Keeper Hockey Pool
Who here is in one?
Has anyone ever created one?
I am looking to join one if anyone has an opening, or start one up with some buddies.
Any sites that allow you to make it fairly easy?
What rules do you use?
Thanks in advance...

I am in one, we use officepools.com We have a cap of 56.8M and ten teams and we did a live draft a year ago to select the players. I didn't do so hot last year, took Turco with my 2nd pick, who knew? Anyhow, we draft 4LW, 4C, 4RW, 6D, 2 Goalies and then use officepools to keep score. You have one franchise player that you protect and then at the end of the season one of your top 5 players is randomly drawn and goes back into availability. Scoring is 1 point for a goal or an assist, defenseman's plus/minus counts also so if a d man on a bad team can cost you quite a few points in a night, the most I ever lost in one night was 4 points for a -4. Goalies get 2 points for a win. Extra points are a goalie shutout is a bonus 5 points and a hat trick for a scorer is 7. In the offseason at this years draft I dropped Stephen Weiss, Zherdev, Leopold, Craig Anderson, and Turco. My team now looks like this.
Centres
1. Sydney Crosby (Franchise)
2. Michael Frolik
3. Phil Kessel
4. Matt Duchene
LW
1. Alexander Semin
2. P. O' Sullivan
3. C. Glencross
4. Nikita Filatov
RW
1. T Bertuzzi
2.R. Callahan
3.D. Brown
4.B. Little
Defence
1. Dion Phaneuf
2. C. Pronger
3.P. Ranger
4.M. Giordano
5.A. Goligosko
6.J. Johnson
Goalies
1. R. Emery
2. J. Hiller
Keeper leagues are great, just get some of your hockey loving friends together.

Nope ... some people just don't have good sarcasm detectors. I read an article once in which some psychologist type dude maintained some people's brains just aren't wired to detect/understand sarcasm.

I've done a roto pool since the lockout-we do a draft in which we bid for 20 players with a maximum of $275-you can protect 3 players every year with slight raises, as for keepers, just keep the spreadsheet year to year so you know what everyone paid, and if you allow trades, print out the league transaction page at the end of the season. We did our draft on Sunday, 11 players, about 7 hours or booze smoke and hockey geekery!

Scoring Winger
|
here are the rules to one that I am starting this year...
· Teams will consist of 13 players. You must have 8 forwards, 4 defencemen, and 1 goalie. During the draft you can draft in whatever order you want but it is up to each manager to keep track of what positions they have drafted, if you over draft one position then you will be forced to drop your the extra and re-draft the position that you were short on at the end of the draft after everyone else has already picked.
· For the original draft a random order will be selected for the first picks and from there the draft will be a snake order for the rest of the draft. Ie: 1-8 for the first round and then 8-1 for the second round.
· At the completion of the season every manager gets to keep 4 players. These players do not have to be named until September 1st. The longest a player can stay on your roster without re-entering the draft is 3 years. After 3 years he must be put back in but you are able to select him again and reset the 3 year time. Also if you release someone after either 1 or 2 years and re-draft him yourself then you once again can keep him for an additional 3 years.
· For every draft after the first year it will be the same snake order as the first, but the draft order will be set by the previous year standing. Whoever was in last place gets to choose what draft position he wants and then second last and so on till first place gets stuck with whatever is left.
· Trades from un-drafted players will occur once a month, Nov 11th, Dec 11th, Jan 11th, Feb 11th, and the last one Mar 11th. For these trades priority will go from last place to first place. You are allowed to drop one play from your roster and pick up one un-drafted player. You can only trade a forward for a forward ect. The player you trade does not bring his point total with him, he only starts getting you points from the trade date and the rest of the season.
· Trades between managers will be unlimited and can happen at any point in the season until Mar 18th. Managers can trade both their players and their draft picks, as long as both teams remained balanced (8 forwards, 4 defence, 1 goalie, and same number of draft picks.) For example you could trade Crosby and an 8th round pick for Horcoff and a 1st round pick if you wanted. After a trade has been completed it will be emailed to all managers and if 1 thinks the trade is not fair, then it will go to a vote and if over half think it is not fair the trade will be rejected. After the Stanley cup is handed out managers can resume trading with each other if they want to.
