Default U of C car insurance

I am looking at getting my car insurance moved off of my dads insurance coverage, make it my own. my dad said he heard there was a U of Calgary student group car insurance. i had never heard of it, after doing some searching, i cant find it. but my dad was told to check it out from someone at TD insurance.
does anyone know of insurance through the U of C or if it exists?
if not, what is a good company to go with for a 22 year old driver with no accidents in the past 4 years?

thanks!

RBC is generally pretty good for low rates. I'd check them out. I pay $86 per month for two people on a two-door grey sedan. However, I am 26, and it's only after 25 when you see a significant drop in your insurance rates. Keep up the clean record and drive a reasonable car and you've got yourself some good chances for even lower rates.

what AlbertGQ said. It is through TD Meloche Monnex and they are great. I switched to them from ING and they are much better, my wife switched from Cooperator and she also prefers them.

Pretty sure the deal they offer is only for alumni.

I use State Farm for insurance. If you have a GPA above 3.0 and have done a driver training course you get big discounts. I can get TD Meloche Monnex through my company, however the quote I got from them was considerably more than State Farm. I think in 2 years once I'm 25, it'll definitely be worth switching to TD, but I'd check out State Farm if I were you.

They are great, but you should never speak of them publically. The more people know about TD MM the greater the odds are of TD MM having crappy drivers on their books. These crappy drivers cause accidents which causes our rates go up.

Loose lips sink ships.

If you're a student member of APEGGA (geology or an engineering) student you will also get the discount through TD Melloche Monnex.

I've always wondered about that. I'm assuming their actuarialist (is that even a word) calculated the accident rates of University grads, hence the group discount.

BUT when I applied, they never asked for any proof that I went to the university.
