Post 2009 Long Drive Contest - Stampede Style
OK, in order to take your mind off driving during Stampede Week, here is a contest for everyone.

The first person to spot each American State license plate and post here gets 1 point for every kilometer from the capital of the State to Calgary. The must be DRIVING to get the 1 pt/km. If you find them PARKED, it is one point for each 5 kms (i.e. 20% of the value.)

The points are derived from using the shortest driving time from Google Maps (not necessarily the shortest driving distance.) And yes, even Hawaii was listed. Kinda funny the directions too. Links for each are in the spreadsheet linked to below.

There are one hundred "targets" to spot. Each of the 50 States driving, and each of the 50 States parked.

You cannot claim both driving and parked in the same "viewing"! If they are different vehicles, then fine.

Only those spotted from this point forwards counts. The Illinois, Indiana and Texas plates that I have seen today don't count!

Only the FIRST person to post the State plate (either driving or parked) in this thread gets the credit.

Keep it honest as there are prizes.

1st place gets sweet FA.
2nd place gets 1/2 of sweet FA.
3rd place gets 1/3 of sweet FA.

Have fun! And it will be interesting to see how many we can collectively find.

PS, don't rear end anyone trying to make out the State of the plate!

Edit, and yes, this is only for vehicles spotted in CALGARY...

ok got home and got it on my photobucket, now I know its a rental but I looked into it and whatever state it is rented from is where the plate is from so its legit

I don't think I have ever seen a Mexican plate up here. Interesting!

BTW all, since every U-Haul is registered and plated out of Arizona, yeah, they don't count!

With FKA's points he has pretty much won has he not? Unless someone finds one from Hawaii.... or can you enter more than once and accumulate points?

Yes, you can enter as many slots as you can find. First to find them gets the points.

If you were to take a walk through the Stampede parking lot on your way in, you might find a few different ones. They all count IF you are the first to see them.

Edit, check the link in the first post. Only two slots have been filled so far. 98 to go.
