Kumar goes to the White House - Spoiler Alert for fans of 'House'
**Spoiler Alert for fans of House**
Apparently on last nights episode, Kal Penn had his character killed so that he could take a job working in the White House.
Quote:
I was incredibly honored a couple of months ago to get the opportunity to go work in the White House. I got to know the president and some of the staff during the campaign and had expressed interest in working there, so I'm going to be the associate director in the White House office of public liaison. They do outreach with the American public and with different organizations. They're basically the front door of the White House. They take out all of the red tape that falls between the general public and the White House. It's similar to what I was doing on the campaign.
I missed the first bit out House (I hadn't been following it this season) and I was shocked that they killed him off. I liked his character.

We had a very long discussion. And I remember David saying, "Are you telling me that you're unhappy with the show and that you want to leave so you can go off and do a different show?" And I was like, "Not at all. I'm actually saying the exact opposite, which is I'm having an incredible time, but there's something aching in me to do something completely different and take a break from the acting thing for a while." And with their blessing, we were able to work it out.

Personally, I think this is pretty awesome. I've always found Penn to be charismatic and articulate and I think he will do very well for the White House in the role he's taking on.
Of course, people who dislike the Administration will choose to see this as Obama padding his staff with vapid celebrities and a pot-head working to bring about the legalization of marijuana.
spoiler in white.
Gunshot to the temple, no note. I thought it was a great episode, it had more of an impact than any House episode in a long time. I'm glad the Flames game was on after as I needed a pick-me-up.
That's too bad, but his character was waaay too normal for the show anyway. They need to introduce more damaged characters with issues, say 13's long lost twin sister.
Hardly a spoiler though, he's found dead in the first few minutes of the episode. To say "at the end they learned it was because of his involvement in the 9/11 attacks and was assassinated by a group of patriots" would be a spoiler!
For the record though I'm pretty sad, I liked him. Was shocked too, thought maybe it would be a dream epsiode or something
Good to know what's up, I thought he was just going off to do another movie.
For once a Fox preview lived up to the billing. Last week the preview was something like "a shocking turn of events" and you didn't see Kutner so you thought something was up with him but typically these sorts of "don't miss this episode" things disappoint. Yesterday's event did live up to the hype.
What I laugh at is they flashed up a memorial page for him directing people to the fox site. That is just plain crazy.
I had read a blind item about a character on a hit show was going to suddenly commit suicide. The comments had pretty much figure out the show was House but weren't sure which character it would be.
yeah that was a big shocker for me last night. Came out of absolutely nowhere. The guy is very well educated though so I imagine this is a dream come true for him, so good for him.

The less the number of politicians occupying job slots in the administration (any one actually) the better. Good for Kal. He seems really excited about it.
As a big fan of House, I thought they handled the issue of that particular story line extremely well. I saw a lot of similarities to what I went through when in a somewhat similar situation. Unexpected, no explanation. It's difficult to deal with.
Great show, great episode...and great guy. (Kal Penn AND Lawrence Kutner).

Sure but make it long lost sister in law so they can lez out.

I don't think that's necessarily true, I just think they didn't get a chance to develop a story line for him. They mentioned a few times that his parents had been murdered in front of him. That might cause some damage. Obviously, Kutner was Batman.
