Default my ufo sighting - april 2, 2009

almost daily, i take my labrador to tom campbell's hill off leash dog park. for those who have not been to this park, it is the grassy hill just above the zoo lrt station. we go so often that it often becomes a boring walk, for me at least, the dog is always chasing the ball or socializing, she loves it there.

yesterday, however, was very different. i'm always scanning the horizons of the city, the 270 degree views are amazing. while i'm looking down towards the intersection of deerfoot and memorial, i see 2 white objects circling very high in the sky. at first i thought they were birds, because the park is so close to the river, birds are frequently circling above the river and zoo. the more i observed these objects, the more i realized they are not birds and they were circling in a very organized circle, keeping distance between them the same. there were no wings or lights or deviance in their pattern. after about 10 seconds of observing them, they both, in orderly fashion, headed due north at a high speed. from where they were circling to when they disappeared into the clouds on the horizon was about 5 seconds. i can not even begin to guess their altitude or speed because i had no reference of scale other than the ground.

my father was an air traffic controller and was always pointing out aircraft to me when i was young. i may not know the names of all the planes, but i know one when i see one, and these objects were not planes or birds. i don't know what they were. but i am not dismissing any possibility of their being or origin, earthly or not.

so there it is, my first ufo sighting. i hope any of you that have had an experience will share it or share your thoughts regarding the subject.

I saw a UFO outside my house when I was about 17 years old (or maybe a little younger). I was in the drive-way shooting some hoops...turned around and saw a silver cylander coming down from Nose Hill. I have no idea how big it was because I couldn't figure out how far away it was - but it hovered across the sky towards the NE of Calgary very quickly. Didn't make any sounds whatsoever.

I have no clue what it was.

I thought someone else on here reported seeing a UFO a few days ago, as well?

Interesting. Ok, so this story I am about to say can be verified by a few members on this board. We all saw the same thing (WinColumn can definitely verify this story).

Many years ago, a group of us were hanging out at a friend's house because we wanted to watch the meteor shower. What we ended up witnessing is a strange triangle formation of red lights flying over us. We couldn't explain what it was since it made no noise. We thought maybe those were birds, but unless someone made LED vests for those birds, we can rule that out.

Did they change formation at some point?

I think I might have seen this same thing, it would have been in the early or mid 90's!

I also saw something like a bright squiggly line move across the sky when I kid, a friend saw the same thing.

Are you sure you weren't hopped up on pure syrup squishees?

I saw a ufo a few years ago. It was a green light off in the distance that did things that no aircraft that I've ever heard of can do. Moved extremely fast from one stopped point to the next, moved very directly, up down, side to side and diagonally, and when it was done doing whatever it was doing, it f'd off in a hurry.
Was standing on a friend's patio in Shawnessy and the light was south, maybe around DeWinton.
If it wasn't for the fact that a friend saw it too, I'd probably have thought I was going crazy.

I distinctly saw a UFO last Summer in my backyard, quite unlike the typical saucer-floaty-shiny light types you hear about. It was a nice bright day, and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, so I figured I'd go outside and get some sun.

As I'm kind of relaxing with my eyes closed, I hear an crop duster-like plane or something zip by, so I open my eyes and just lazily watched it fly overhead and out of sight towards the east. After it was gone, I then I looked up toward the eastern sky to see a bunch of seagulls, hovering above what I could only assume was Safeway's parking lot, given the distance away they were. I remember being pretty captivated by how high they were actually flying. They just looked like tiny white specks in the sky, and I remember saying to myself, "If there were any clouds whatsover, I wouldn't be able to see them," but as I said before, this particular day was extremely sunny with a very rich blue sky and not a single cloud in any direction.

I watched this one seagull for a bit, up until it zipped under this long, dark gray and brown cylinder shape in the sky. At first I thought it was a dragonfly hovering over my hot tub gazeebo, but I saw few more seagulls fly underneath the thing and that's when I sat up, jaw dropped and head titled sideways.

It just sat there way up in the sky, perfectly still. It didn't appear as though it was hovering or moving in anyway. It was perfectly static. No lights. No rotations or shifts in it's movement at all. I stood there searching for any logical answer as to what this thing was. I really don't even know how to begin describing it.

So, I bolted inside to grab a camera or my camcorder. Of course, the camera was fresh out of batteries (go figure) and I frantically searched for some while shouting out to everybody in my house to come take a look at this thing. I was inside for probably 20-30 seconds and when I came back out, it was gone.

Still haven't really come up with an answer.

This is not exactly a UFO sighting but a really weird experience my family and I had back in Wales in 1977, when I was a kid. (There is a UFO connection though)

We were hiking along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, which is a spectacular path with stunning scenery of the ocean along the cliff tops. You have little place to go here as the path is narrow skirting the coastline and bays with barbed wire fences protecting the farmers fields on the one side and a sheer drop on the other. Anyway this particular hike should have taken 5 to 6 hours at the very most that day. We were enjoying the scenery for a while before I noticed that some of the rock formations below we were encountering where EXACTLY the same as we rounded each bay and came across the next one. You would expect some similarity of course but this was uncanny. We started to observe different features like trees, stacks down below etc. and they were always the same. This felt like "The Twillight Zone!" After about six times walking through this 'same' area we decided to build a little rock pile as we were so freaked out. Believe it or not but on the next pass we came across this same rock pile. We felt like we were losing our minds! Lo and behold the next time we rounded the corner of the bay everything changed, everything was different! We carried on our way and eventually came to our destination, about 8 hours later than we should have. This hike took 14 hours when it should have taken 6 at the most! All I know is that we felt like hamsters in a wheel or rats in an experiment. Once we 'solved' the problem we were released as such.

It was only later, much later that year, that we learned about events that would eventually be famously known as "The Welsh Triangle." This still resonates with me over 30 years later!

Here's one link, there's many others if you google it:

Why would someone just decide to build a little rock pile?

ours didn't change formation, but it flew very fast and what seemed like very low altitudes. Strangest thing I've ever seen from the night sky.

I think people scoff at the word UFO because they automatically associate it with Aliens or E.T.'s. An Unidentified Flying Object does not have to be an alien craft, it just has to be a flying object, that is unidentifable!

Thanks for sharing these stories, very interesting read.

Nope this actually happened. There were five of us. My mum, dad, sister, her friend, and myself. It's the most bizarre thing that has ever happened to me, even more so than marriage! Aliens playing tricks on the dumb animals? That's what it felt like anyway.....

Freaky. I've seen something that I would describe the same way...twice.

Back in the mid-90s I lived in Lloydminster for a couple of years, and twice I was walking home (from the bar, but I wasn't so drunk to hallucinate) and saw exactly what you described...A triangle formation of red lights flying silently (and seemingly at low altitude) overhead. I would describe it the same as you, like it was geese flying overhead, except for the red glow.

One time I saw them, they were flying due north, the other time due south, which is either directly to or from Cold Lake, which is about 150km straight north of Lloydminster.

Yeah that's pretty much what I saw too, though I'm sure that as they went past they changed formation, exchanged places or something.

I saw then initially as a reflection in the window of my car, and by the time I looked up they were almost out of view already.
