Am I being scammed?
I put my iPad2 64gb on craigslist down here and I typed my phone number out like two zero five three four five five five five five and I received a text message about two hours later from a number in New York.
The thing sounds fishy because he wouldn't tell me where he live except "you will see my addy on the paypal" and he want me to ship it for his son. well He has sent the money to pay pal but I haven't tried to move it and he sent $200 more than what I was asking. The addy was a confirmed addy in Nigeria.
I'm just want to know if I move the money to a checking account will he be able to get my information? do you think it's a scam? he paid before shipping too.
EDIT:
the dude didn't send the money, he sent an email (presumably fake) that looked like a paypal email but when I logged into pay pal (different browser) and no money is there. I contacted paypal and they said don't send anything unless it shows up on your paypal account and not via email.

Yes, total scam. It's likely a stolen PayPal account and the money will get reversed in a couple of weeks, after you've shipped the package.

I didn't know that, well either way I have someone that is willing to trade me $300 and a firearm that's local. So sounds like a win win for me

Be careful, it might be a "Barter King" and he is going to quickly show how he turned that Ipad into a brand new car

No offense OP, I understand you're trying to get information by posting here. But I can't believe in this day and age that people still fall for it/need to ask if its a scam when it comes from NIGERIA.

When making online purchases, always be wary of Nigerians and people who want to meet you in person while possessing firearms.

It wasn't the same guy with the firearm. I know the guy with the firearm personally so that's not a big thing. (besides I would be armed myself anyways) but the whole nigeria thing is what brought up the red flag and I want to be a 100% sure. I rather be the fool that asked instead of the fool that has no money and has no item.

When I tried to sell my Macbook on Kijiji (thanks to all you CP'ers low-balling me here), I received tons of inquiries about selling them the Macbook to non-Calgary address. I ignored all of them, and finally I found a local buyer who appreciates the real value of the laptop.
So yes, anything that involves Paypal and non-local address is a scam. I only deal with face-to-face cash transactions.

You have a totally different Craigslist experience than I do. I've sold/bought many things on Craigslist but have yet to show up to one exchange where parties come armed.
I live a boring life. Please tell me that the funds will be contained in an old bowling bag and then thrown from a moving car.
You want a toe, I'll get you a toe.

...so the Nigerian Princess I've had correspondence with for the last year and half isn't using the money I wired her to fly out here to hand me the deed to her Castle?
Man, what a bummer.

My mom called me last night to tell me she had a phone call from a guy from Microsoft who advised her she needed her computer fixed and was stupid enough to give him her CC number. Luckily for her she called me right after and I had her call MasterCard and stop the payment and while she was on the phone the scammers tried to process it. My mom is 67 and does not know dick about computers.
