That part did, yeah.
I don't remember the specifics but one thing I remember for sure was me pestering my mechanics teacher to estimate the amount of fuel that was in each cylinder when it fired. I assumed you needed to create that much energy, then figured out how much hydrogen it would take to create that much energy and how long it would take to cook that much hydrogen using a car battery.
The time required to do it was pretty long in comparison to how long it takes for one piston to fire, like several hundred times +++ longer. The worst part about the whole ordeal was I wrecked a pair of pants by handling the car battery and my family was pretty hard up for cash at that point in time so I had to wear pants with acid holes burned in the side for the rest of the year.
