Default Photographers...N Lights Are Happening 12:02am Apr24

Even with light pollution i can see that they are quite strong. If you can get away from the city and feel inclined, go for it. Post pics please.

There is thin cloud starting to hide it but if you get away from the city (preferably west...rise in elevation) you will see it. First, look at a radar weather map and see where the sky is clear.

Yeah I'm at the edge of the city in the far south and I'm not going anywhere tonight, but I can often get a good view here. I'm away from a lot of the light pollution.

Not a whole lot right now though,.

I guess they come and go.
If your able to stay up keep an eye on it.
Like i said there is thin cloud that seems to be interfereing right now.
Also if youre far south looking north you might be looking through a lot of city light. Also environment canada radar is good to use to find where it is clear.

Yeah that's a problem sometimes. I have had very visible shows from this very area, it depends on a lot of factors I'm sure. I could make out a little earlier.

I just got back from around Crossfield. Just too much cloud cover to get anything good right now.

And it isn't the radar that you want to check for cloud cover, its the satellite.

When I still had a vehicle I would sometimes just drive a little east or west. I live right of 22X so I can get out of the city in a matter of minutes. Not even just for the northern lights, sometimes just to check out the stars. Also when there would be a comet or a meteor shower or something like that. Not as mobile anymore though.

You should check it out and you can tell us what you find.

It was pretty good for about 10 minutes when I first saw this thread appear. I am just north of Nosehill and the view was good.

Then I was going to get my camera and drive to somewhere darker and they virtually disappeared.

Lol, your first response was funnier.

EDIT: I did see them very faintly after I first checked out this thread. But as I mentioned, not much after that.
