They'll have eggs on their faces if the AHL teams block it.

I just watched an interview with Ken King on Global Vancouver. Here is what I remember.
1. Needs 2/3 AHL Governors support and has credibility but it's a sizable challenge.
2. Has no backup plan.
3. About lobbying and opposition from Chilliwack Bruins owners Sather and Burke. He expects the governors to decide on whats good for the AHL.
4. This is the best potential AHL market in NA.
5. It won't be called the Flames.
6. Minimum of 10 days until a few weeks for a decision.

hard to say. It really wasn't a question, just a statement thrown out by the interviewer which seemed to include both the Flames and Abbotsford.

Makes sense that they won't be called the Flames....they're in Canuck territory so you don't want to alienate the fan base.

I also heard they will have they're own colours. So we can stop with the Flaming A theme.

I would rather see them move anywhere else.
From the unprofessional leaking of Calgary's interest, possibly with forcing a move in mind, to the premature statements that they ARE getting an AHL team, this place seems a bit full of themselves.

My money is on "Pilots" if they move to Abby and decide to have any kind of historical name.

I just think some of the stuff coming out of Abbotsford, especially implying that it was a done deal months before it actually was (or isn't even yet) has been amateurish and unfair to the QC Flames.

Why because the QCSV told the Flames that they were having doubts about making it next year and they went out and looked. But the problem That I had with it was Abbotsford people keeping that big mouth shut.
I do think that helped push the qcsv over the edge but QC would be in the same boat next year and we would be talking about this next year.

The concept does make sense. It is basically the same thing Balsilie tried with Hamilton - prove the market in an attempt at swaying the governors.

BC sure puts Alberta to shame when it comes to building Arenas...How many have been built in the last 20 years?
Victoria, Vancouver, Chilliwack, Abbortsford, Kamloops, Kelowna, Cranbrook, Prince George...
Alberta
Red Deer and Grande Prairie..

That would be great name.
A lot better than the "Assassins", which, sadly, might also be considered appropriate to the area.
Regardless, if the baby Flames do make it out here, I will certainly make efforts to attend some games.

I wonder if Saskatoon would be considered as a fall back option. It's a growing city with hockey in the blood. Plus, it is a little closer to some AHL markets.
Assuming of course there would be local investors.

I dunno, people are concerned about the proximity of the Bruins right now. I don't think the Blades would be to pleased at all.
