Sometime early next year, I've heard. And there's other violent games on Wii too, you just have to look.
The developer specifically said they wanted to make a type of game for Wii that isn't widely available for the console. Technically, Nintendo doesn't have to 'okay' it. They don't really have anything to do with it. Personally I think we need more of this type of game on Wii and I'll be buying it day one!
And yes, black and white with red blood. Like Sin City.
most of the time it's not nintendo that stops violent games, its teh publisher. They feel only kids and grandma's play teh wii so mature games won't sell. This of course just proves the publishers right as the older crowd turns to xbox and ps3 for those games.
games like no more heroes, and to some extent RE4 and the godfather/scarface tried to curb that, but they weren't that successful (i guess re4 did ok in sales)

well Nintendo gave themselves that reputation, i still haven't forgiven them for taking the blood and fatalities out of the original Mortal Combat

Don't forget about Manhunt 2. The ESRB 'convinced' them to make some drastic changes to the presentation. I dont think it sold too well though either.

No, idiots who think more blood and more guns = better games gave them that reputation.

No, the game was going to get an AO rating which meant none of the three consoles will allow on their system. Rockstar made changes to actually be able to sell the game, not to please Nintendo.
The best part about Mad World is that's being developed by Platinum Games which consists of ex-Capcom and Clover employees. The people working on it were involved with Resident Evil 4, Okami, Viewtiful Joe, and God Hand. That's a damn good track record to rely on.
I'm going to need to know more about the game play, controls and story before I get excited about this. Violence for the sake of violence just doesn't do it for me.

Read my above post.
The people developing this game have an excellent track record of producing awesome games even without a huge budget.

I did read your post and my comments weren't directed at you specifically. I'm still going to reserve judgment though having decent developers on board is somewhat reassuring.
It's funny that this would be exclusive to the wii and yet appear to be one of the most gory games in recent memory. I suppose it helps that it's more comic-type violence instead of realistic looking violence.
Then again perhaps the only difference between a game like this and a game like manhunt is that this game hasn't been noticed yet by the mainstream media.
