Default Puerto Vallarta Hotels

Just trying to take a quick stint over to Puerto Vallarta and just wondering what hotels you CP'ers would recommend? I don't have kids, its just my boyfriend and I, we like to drink and have fun. I'm not picky as to where it is in Puerto Vallarta so any suggestions are welcome!

The main question is, do you want to be right in the heart of the action or are you looking for it to be a little quieter? If the former, choose a hotel right on the main drag of Puerto Vallarta. If the latter, take a look at Nuevo Vallarta, a quieter strip just a bit north of PV. There are a bunch of nice RIU properties there.

My wife and I stayed at Samba Vallarta in October (in the Nuevo Vallarta region) and the service and hotel was excellent - I wouldn't recommend it if it's just you and your boyfriend, though - a little too family friendly and you have to travel for any kind of nightlife.

I stayed at the all-inclusive resort 'Dreams' last time I was there. Great beaches, excellent service, and 'good' food.

I'm definitely going back there next time.

I haven't been to PV myself, but my parents favourite was the Palladium. They also said to NOT go to the Royal Decameron Los Cocos!

I have stayed at the Palladium a couple of times and while I really liked it, others may not. It is about 45min-1hr out of PV, so if you want to shop or hang around PV or check out the night-life, it might not be the place for you. I didn't go looking for it, but I didn't see much of a night-life at the resort. In my opinion, it is more of a family resort than a couples resort.

We stayed at the Sheraton Buganvillas (sp?), and it was excellent. Pretty cheap rates, access to their pool (the beaches suck in PV) and no need to pay the premium for all inclusive food and booze.

It is right on the edge of downtown/old PV/boardwalk.

We really liked it there, the food is awesome everywhere and booze is CHEAP at the convenience stores.

There are a lot of nice looking boutique places downtown that book up fast.

I also have a friend at work who's brother and mother both own a place just outside of PV in yelapa if you're interested.

My wife and a friend are down there this week to stay at the Los Cocos... after the first night they upgraded to the Royal Decameron which is nearby for 120 bucks. Infinitely better.
