Default Anyone see the Dinger get dinged?

Looks like a good time was had by all at the annual hate/no hate get together. It appears also that the all knowing Rick Bell stuck his yap where he shouldn't have though. Damn, wouldn't have minded seeing that part.

I know it's not cool to be happy when someone gets hurt, but I'm happy about this. Rick Bell's writing style annoys me to no end. Every so often I read a few sentences of his loser column to see if he's still up to his schtick. Of course he is. With his lame-o phrases like Silly Hall and Silly Council. I honestly can't believe that there is anyone in the city that actually reads and likes his column.

Oh, most definatly. Dont advocate any of the racism crap, but knowing the dinger felt a little pain made me a little bit warm and fuzzy inside on such an otherwise miserable morning.

I always figured he needed a bonk on the head.

I've been carrying severe guilt and feeling major retro cringe for the time I voted for him when he ran for mayor. I don't know why I did it. I guess I thought that it'd be funny to see him put his money where his mouth was. But the very idea that there was one more vote for him than there should have been keeps me up at night.

Y'all have to realize he tailors his writing to his expected audience - Sun readers. I also find his style incredibly annoying, but he actually does write about relevant topics - agree with him or not - unlike most of the irrelevant twaddle peddled by that rag.

I'd forgotten about him running for mayor. In fairness, he couldn't possibly have been worse than Al "Do-Nothing" Duerr and the rest of the Council of Cluelessness that could have saved this city hundreds of millions of dollars now by spending tens of millions of dollars then if they'd had even a driblet of sense among them.

It's okay to mention Eric Francis by name in this instance.

I was in attendance when Bell held court in a S.E. watering hole the night Lady Diana was killed in the car accident in late August of '97.The Dinger was blitzed out of his mind - mere months after stating in his column that he was on the wagon - and he was going on and on how happy he was that the bright, vibrant young woman was dead.

I'm no monarchist, but his drunken diatribe disgusted me.

Nice to see that a bunch of human rights marching anti racists groups can't control themselves. I expected better out of them. I expected the skin head nazi idiots to be the violent ones.

to say I was let down is an understatement.

So who exactly are the racists? They were once great friends.....

"White" people still hold most of the power in our society and the most powerful "white" people still tend to use their power to hurt people of color.

From the "ant-racists" FAQ sheet...

The police should have done the world a favour and shot them all.

Lets see, a bunch of skinheads hold a rally, violence breaks out from protesting anti-racists,30 people are arrested and this thread is about a goofy newspaper writer that got hit in the head with flying debris?

You should've voted for old Stampede Wrestling manager JR Foley instead, who's promises to put mats on 8th Ave mall for all the whinos to sleep off their drinking binges, and keeping all downtown bars open all night, had more thought out theory then Rick "Let the Flames go to Portland" Bell.

Excellent headline on the front page of Sunday's Calgary Sun:

NAZI MARCH TURNS VIOLENT

It is impressive that the Sun managed to turn a legitimately newsworthy event into a story about their hack columnist getting a scratch on his head.

Yes, as much as that title tries, it not quite the same dramatics as Hitler marching into Poland overnight.

Have no fear, I assume tomorrow's headline will be:

SNOW Way?!

With a picture of some schlub shovelling giving the thumbs down.

I could not agree more. I find I have to read his articles slower to comprehend the overall story with all his BS 2 or 3 word sentences and attempts to be witty.
