Many Microsoft Windows users who downloaded the recently released AntiSpyware program from Microsoft, or had it installed through an automatic Windows update, woke up to a surprise. Unintentionally, the heuristics of the software detected Internet Explorer as spyware, and removed the program from their systems.
"It shows how powerful our AntiSpyware program is," said Weatherbee. "Not only is it able to remove spyware from the system, but also the source of most spyware. Our competitors can't match that."
Symantec Antivirus Research reported that virus sightings were down by 95% this morning.

That'd be funny if one of the anti-spyware programs like AdAware or Spybot S&D actually DID just completely remove IE.
Personally though, I like IE and usually don't have many problems with it.

InTheSlot, are you asking for a virus or spyeware on your CPU? I would recomend you moving to Firefox. And just keep IE for your Windoze updates. The best feature in FF is the Tab browsing, and not to mention the "Bug me Not" add on. IE can't even compete with it.

It's too bad Windows needs IE and can't be uninstalled. Unless of course you are in Europe where Microsoft, by law, now has to produce a non-IE version of Windows on top of a version that includes it. Some mild programming changes and you now have a more secure peice of software, but costs the same as the crappy one.
Wish they sold that version over here.

No. I actually am a computer technician for a living and therefore know what I'm doing. IE isn't so bad if you know what you're doing. Just stop visiting porn sites and you'll be fine.
@BlackArcher101: I don't know what you're talking about. Internet Explorer can be uninstalled.

mmmmmmmmmm........Pr0n!!!!!
On a side note I just hate Microsoft. Apple all the way for me.
I think what BlackArcher is refering to is that in order to download Windows updates you need to have IE. It won't work with Firefox/Netscape/Mozzila

You can uninstall IE now? I can't seem to find it in my add/remove programs.. how do I do it?
But yes, some functions will cease to work if IE would be missing. Isn't the file folder browser integrated with IE, just like XP in general?

Ok so I just installed the FireFox browser and I am truly amazed by the speed in which pages display. Really. I was hesitant to mess with Windows and put this puppy in, but boy am I glad I did.
I need to ask, can you get different skins or themes for it???? If so where?

It is possible to uninstall Internet Exploder but chances of it ######ing up your computer is way too high. I know someone who removed it and they ended up having to format and re-install Windozes. Mozilla all the way. I only use IE when website developers are too lazy to support Mozilla.

File Folder, do you mean Windows Explorer?
To uninstall Internet Explorer: Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs >> Add/Remove Windows Components >> Check the box for Internet Explorer >> Voila!
