WTB: New TV
I'm looking to get a new TV, high def, plasma or LCD (I don't really care) hoping for 50", but I plan on waiting for boxing day sales.
Anyone know of any bargains?

I have been looking for the same, all stores are pretty much the same and most will price match. I have been to Costco, Future Shop, Bestbuy, the Brick, Sears, Visions, and Soundsaround. I think we are going to wait until boxing week as well, don;t really need one right now so no biggie on the wait.

From my experience working a Christmas at Future Shop a few years back, the prices are the same the week before Christmas as they are Boxing Week. The difference is that they'll bring in a lot more low end stuff to advertize with 'insane' deals. I've also seen older stock blown out as well for Boxing Week.
If you're waiting for Boxing Week to get a Sony or LG, you might as well get it before Christmas. I wouldn't line up for it on Boxing Day, that's for sure.
Plus with their price match policy, the only thing they wont match is the blow out prices. If you buy the TV a week before, and it's not blown out the next week, but is $100 less... you could always go back and get the difference in refund.
And the good employees will tell you if the TV will be blown out or not, too.

We're also looking to pick up a few new LCD TV's, but a friend of ours who buys a lot of them for his restaurants told us to wait a few weeks to a month as prices are about to drop a bunch.
Anybody else heard about this and why?

True story.
The new model year is about to happen for TVs and when the new models come in, the old ones go clearance and voila - price drop.
That's what I'm waiting for to buy my new TV.

When?
Is there, like, a "rollout" date, or should I just keep my ear to the ground?

I would also stay away from FS and Bestbuy. Visions and Soundsaround is where you can go and negotiate for a better deal.

I know that Samsung and Panasonic have started to release their new Plasma models in the States. It seems that the cheaper models are being released first this month, while some won't be released till this summer.
