Default Buying car at one place, servicing it at another

Has anyone bought a new car at one dealer but needed to have it serviced at another dealer. I want to buy my next car using dealfind but the wife worries that we won't be able to get it serviced at a dealer close to us. Comments?

They'd be happy to service it. Dealerships make a killing on service/warranty work.

Some dealerships here in Victoria charge more for people that didn't buy their car from them. But they will still do the work while asking for your first born and possibly your arm and/or leg.

Perfectly acceptable. I am a finance manager at a local dealership, and spent 10 years in sales previous to that. If any dealer was caught turning away a customer because they exercised their right as a consumer to get the best possible deal elsewhere, the manufacturer would not be too amused. Also right now, service dept's in a lot of dealerships are barren wastelands, and they are looking for any work they can to avoid sending mechanics home early. Any dealer that is so short sighted they would hold a grudge and decline service business because they couldn't get the original sale will not last long in this market.
