Coyotes GM gets to work

Phoenix would like to announce its first deal after adopting the team. Thanks to the Pen's for the talks and eventual deal.

To the Phoenix Coyotes:
1. Daley, Trevor (D) NHL
2. Willsie, Brian (LW) NHL
3. Quick, Jonathan (G) AHL
4. 2009 3rd Round Draft Choice (phi)

To the Pittsburgh Penguins:
1. Gionta, Brian (RW) NHL
2. Gillies, Colton (C) ECHL
3. Grachev, Evgeny (C) AHL

Phoenix Coyotes sends Pittsburgh Penguins $1000000 for the 2008-09 season.

The Yotes are in horrible shape in a lot of areas, but the biggest area of concern was in goal - and this deal helps address that a lot. Nicely done for your first deal!

Good job by both teams. And as Mr. Hrdina stated, the biggest issue for each CPHL team is to have a true starter. Well done.

Well this deal made a lot of sense to us, and I know it filled a need for the Coyotes as well. We had an abundance of blue liners and goalies. This move allows us to bring in a solid veteran forward who is having a great NHL year and a couple prospects we really like. Was hard to move Quick, but like I said before I think this deal fills needs for both clubs.

I'm not sure if I'd go so far as to call Quick a true starter, we'll see if he can stay between the pipes for the Kings next year
