Bruins drop out of playoff race

Well, with the loss today it is very unlikely we will make the playoffs. Son of a B. So, if there is anyone you are interested in, let me know. PM is usually the easiest and fastest.

And the trading begins. Against my better judgment, Gonchar has been traded without shopping around. The Rangers offered a fair deal, we tweaked it a little and in the end:

To Rangers

1. Gonchar, Sergei (D) NHL
2. Labarbera, Jason (G) NHL
3. 2009 4th Round Draft Choice (bos)
4. 2009 4th Round Draft Choice (cmb)

To Bruins

1. Corvo, Joe (D) NHL
2. Gerber, Martin (G) NHL
3. Franson, Cody (D) AHL
4. Sateri, Harri (G) ECHL

Gonchar is a personal favorite of mine, but he is now 34, signed for 9.5 for a couple years and was injured all year in the NHL. So, he leaves us but I am excited about Franson coming in. While he matures, Corvo can play top 4 minutes, heck, he only had 10 less points than Gonchar this season. Gerber for Labarbera is a good deal because I think despite the debacle in Ottawa he can still contribute. Labarbera is a bum (sorry flam). And who knows, he is a 79, maybe he can get me into the playoffs lol.

Rangers need something new for this line up and this trade addresses two problem areas...

the first element; it adds a BIG element to the defense and to the Powerplay... which both are big time weak areas.

The second element; it adds another goalie for next season. As Martin Gerber is not in the plans.

Unfortanetely the Rangers had to move Joe Corvo who has played well this season

Once again the Rangers had to move Cody Franson ... who has been a Ranger a couple of times.... I am sure I will try to obtain him again.

Seems to fit the needs of both teams, I'm liking what the Rangers have been able to do lately, that team looks a lot more dangerous right now.
