Razors
Does anyone here use a Gillette Fusion, or a Fusion Power?
I had had a Mach III Power for years, and I finally bought a regular Fusion that came with two extra blades. They were great, but replacement blades are pretty expensive. So I bought a bunch of Fusion Power blades on eBay from Hong Kong (I've done this before with the M3 Power, no problems). I only recently tried the Power blades, and they are horrible. Either I am not supposed to use the Power blades with the regular Fusion razor, or I was sold used razor blades (yes, they are that bad, I can't shave with them at all).
I guess my question is, do you like the Fusion Power if you use it? And what the hell is wrong with these things I bought on eBay? The seller isn't cooperating, telling me that other customers have no problems.

No. But in the spirit of the thread:
Who uses electric razors? Are they worth it?
I shave like once a week, and even then I find it a ridiculous hassle. Is an electric razor the solution to all of my life's problems?

I found that the best solution for my shaving needs is the combination of electric beard trimmer and (non powered) fusion razor.
I have a pretty thick beard which grows relatively quickly and am lazy about shaving (and I think I look good with stubble). This is where the beard-trimmer comes in handy, as I can let my beard grow out a little, then trim it down before shaving OR go with the no-guard trim and leave slightly more than a 5 o'clock shadow to hit the town with.
Also, you bought razor blades off e-bay from hong kong? That's like, the cheapest thing I've ever heard of. Are you scottish?

Driveway, compare the prices, it's ridiculous how much cheaper they are. And I've never had a problem until now. And no, I'm Irish.

Hijacker!
But I used to use an electric razor when I was like 15. Although I have heard if you spend a little bit of money, you can get good ones.

I coach 15 year olds that have to shave more frequently than I do, so I'm looking at a lazy man's alternative.
Yes...I am a hijacker...but, if you analyze the possibilities then maybe this thread can develop into something to help lazy fair-haired individuals everywhere all because of me....I mean you...I mean me.

I also can't grow a beard to save my life. Just random whiskers.
I shave once a week or so, and it varied between electric or with a fusion. Fusion leaves things smoother, but electric doesn't irritate as much I find.
I have a power fusion, but I don't use that feature and have the regular blades, no issues.

I use an electric all the time. Got tired of hacking my face up with a blade. Nothing worse than going out in public with tiny bits of tissue on my face due to all the nicks
Get yourself a good Philishave

I use Gillette Fusion Blades with my Fusion Power since they are easier to find on sale. What you bought is probably a cheap knockoff.
As for the electric razor, the only way they work for me is if I shave every day, otherwise is it tough going.

I do tend to get razor burns from time to time. It also doesn't do quite as good a job as a blade.

I recommend a Phillishave/Norelco. They are so much less expensive at Target in the states, even at 75 cents on the dollar, especially if you go high end. Remember it will take a couple weeks for your skin to get used to it, also, yoou will get razor burns if you do a crap job of cleaning it.
My 'queer eye' skin care tip. Use a good aftershave balm like from Nivea and nothing with alcohol. This is good because it will refresh your skin, and people won't be able to smell your scent from a mile away.

Electric razors rock the cat box man. Philishave is what you want.
Plus, you can feel like you're doing your part to be an enviro-dude because electric razors are the green way to shave ... no soapy shaving foam going into the water treatment system to make three headed hermaphrodite fish, do disposable blades filling up the land fills. It's all just peace, love and grooviness. For real ... they're approved by that Suzuki guy. Actually, maybe that's not the greatest endorsement. Electric razors are certified green though. I wouldn't be surprised if the federal government comes out with a federal green rebate to encourage guys to switch. And the chicks, you'll get more chicks than Wilt The Stilt 'cause you won't look like a leper, and 'cause you'll be an earth hero.

I have an electric razor, a pretty good one too, but I find to do my best job I have to touch up a little with a regular razor.
The electric razor will save you some serious time and energy (and possibly pain) on those longer hairs that aren't quite beard/mustache length yet, like the weekend growth, but I find I usually have to clean up with a regular one, especially on my neck.
Of course I've been hairier than a sasquatch since 24 and get 5 o clock shadow round noon so maybe it's just me.

I have both a Fusion and an electric. I do like the Fusion for the nice close shave. I use the electric as a touch up after. I shave in the shower and always miss spots. I like the convenience of the electric, but it is just plain painful at times as it more rips than cuts the hairs! (Or at least that is what it feels like?).

Its kinda obvious to tell whether your blades are worn out.
Was the blue strip still intact?

I need to shave like twice a day. I have an electric but doesn't shave close enough I find.
Yes, the Mach 3 then Fusion blades are hella expensive. Much cheaper, and as near as I can tell the same quality, is the disposible razors (not just the blades, the type that comes with the handle). I just checked the package, "Shick Xtreme 3". No, they aren't powered, but it is like 1/3 the price of the Fusion blades and I find it's about the same quality shave.

I hate electric shavers but then again, I've only ever tried a couple. My face is pretty damn hairy compared to most of my friends and all I ever use are regular, two blade razors. I apply the aforementioned technique of pre-trimming with a hair clipper if I get too scraggley, but anything less than two or three days growth and I can get away with a razor.
I discovered an awesome trick to getting a good shave from cheap, dual blade razors... You gotta tap it on your sink every so often to knock out the stubble that accumulates between the blades.
And something I learned long ago was to shave after showering, not before. Dion, not sure how you're managing to tear up your face every time you shave, but I never have to walk around with toilet paper on my face. The odd cut maybe, but not like I cut myself every time I shave.
I've wanted to try the shave-while-showering technique that has been talked about on this site before, but I think that (and no offense to people that do this, just my opinion) it's a total waste of water. Sorta like leaving the tap running while brushing your teeth.
