Default Recent uptick in spam?

I've been getting a lot lately. Last week zero, this week a couple an hour. I can't imagine what I did to deserve this. Anyone else?

Although, I was happy to read this one. Something in the title, "BUY a degree the new way", made me snicker so I read the whole thing. The message itself is hilarious.

Quote:
To buy a degree is quite easy these days. Nevertheless most students just sit around in their usually boring local University classes, wasting money. Why would you do that? These days buying a degree is a matter of personal motivation. But why should you buy a degree? The main reason is the fact that buying a degree on1ine is going to save you time, a lot of time. Usually you have to verify your life experience and you instantly qualify. Even though that is not the main cause why people are buying life experience degree.

The actual reason why people buy a life experience degree is because they can not go to a institution in their surrounding area that offers the diploma program they are heading for: For example, if you live near a College which only offers renowned marketing degree, then this doesn't help you a bit if you're looking for a marketing degree. To attend classes you might have to travel long distances. Then it might be that the degree that you want is only offered by a institution which costs a fortune. So you have to leave your place, look for accommodation in the University's place and do all the other stuff involved costing you tons of cheeze.

If you buy a degree by verifying your life experience or work experience, you can find the right degree for you without ever having to leave your workplace and instead get all the documents like the diploma certificate with the University's legal verification and official seal certifying the degree chosen, the transcript, a cover letter, copies of the College's or University's official certificate of accreditation, the institutions postal prospectus approval and a few important things more.

Having a University degree is very important these days, and as always in life you should only stick with something you want.

Beware choosing to be something just because it was the only good degree your local institution offered. After all, you are only going to be good at your job if you like to do it. Thus, you have to get a degree that means something to
you. This used to be a task that could take you years.

Buying a degree is nothing harmful. It's a win-win situation for the Colleges involved as well as for you, getting the degree you dreamed of.Give us a call if you are interested to buy a degree from an University!

If you are interested to obtain your own degree, please give us a call at
Then it gives a phone number in Brooklyn.

Anyway, I'm getting it over and over, so the joke has worn off. Will this just go away if I do nothing? It usually does, but it is fast and furious right now.

Since I switched to using gmail as a clearing house for all my emails, I get almost zero spam. Quite impressive.

I posted a thread here a few months ago on a similar topic. I'm now getting about 75 spams a day. It goes that way for a few months, then drops off to less than half. Then a few months later it spikes again. I don't know why this happens this way. At least that's how it has happened in the past.

It's also funny that I will get so much spam from one person (lately it's some guy named Robert/Bob/Rob Allen), as well as spam on certain topics. Now I get stuff called New Car a lot. Then, suddenly, it changes and the people change as do the topics.

So, lately I'm getting about 75 a day. I even get the odd spam message to addresses that no one knows about and are not on any websites, which is strange.

They'll send messages out to common patterns for known domains as well. alan.aardvark@whatever.com, april.aardvark@whatever.com, etc etc..

Then the ones that don't bounce back they know are real addresses so they add them to the list.

Is there a setting to make them look like they have bounced back?

As for MoneyGuy, sheesh, that's a lot. I've never had anything close to that. Right now it's maybe 15 a day and it's driving me crazy.

My work email gets a spam report 3 times a week of what it has blocked, and today's was the least amount of spam I can recall.

And I know more than a few people have their email go through GMail then they grab it from gmail, letting Google do all the filtering legwork.

Agreed. Gmail is extremely impressive at filtering spam. I only get about one every few months that pop through. I used to scan my spam folder regularly to check for false positives. I think in the four years that I have been using Gmail, I have only had about two or three false positives, and those where newsletters that I signed up for. Now I only scan my spam if I am missing an email. Or if I am really bored and want to see what people are trying to sell me.

I just did a quick check, and the last 50 emails flagged as spam were all sent within the last 2 days.

I have 2 gmail accounts, one is my primary and one is my secondary that I use for signing up for things. If I ever find myself asking "does this company really need my email address?" I use my secondary just in case. The funny/impressive thing is even though I use my secondary address to sign up for things I don't totally trust, I get maybe one spam message in that inbox once every six months.

If you have a spam problem I can't recommend gmail enough.

But my name (which is in my address) has an unusual spelling, so I don't see them guessing it.

Double Gmail address is pure gold. You forward everything to your real address and every time you get a spam message forwarded, you just hop onto it and mark it as spam on your fake address. Then the real spam doesn't clutter up your spam folder on your main account, allowing you to easily notice when something ends up there by accident.

Something like it.

Because my Gmail spam folder is getting 50 messages a day, compared to 5 a week ago.

It's not so much that they guess it, they just have the computer try millions of combinations of every know spelling of every first and last name in every language. Your name may be unusual, but it's probably not unique.

I had a gmail account for a long time before I ever actually used it (and I still don't actually ever use the gmail account address for anything ever), but I get spam directly to it every day.

Anyone getting spam from someone claiming to be the AARP, which I think is supposed to be American Association of Retired Persons or something like that? I doubt it's the real AARP.

Please forward me the email about buying a degree. Lately, I've been in need of a Playa Hata's Degree.

Can someone tell me how I run my work email through gmail?

I have a tyler@ email address to a very popular website and I get about 200 spam messages a day. Help!

A couple of ways I think.. first you can simply forward all the mail from the tyler@ address to a tylerwhatever@gmail.com address and use the Gmail interface (or pop or IMAP the email from Gmail). You can even setup the reply-to so that email appears to be from the tyler@ address.

Second way is to use Gmail for domains, in which case it would replace your current tyler@ email provider.. this would involve changing the MX record for your domain I assume, but I've never actually used Gmail for domains.
