Haha, they aren't supposed to be pets. What an idiot.
Agreed, this Chimp was "grandfathered" past the laws that prohibit keeping these animals as pets because he made commercials and had been in the house for 14 years.
From the article:
"The chimp, who was known to walk around town, sometimes without a leash, also liked to surf on the Internet and was able to change the TV channel with a remote, according to a Stamford Advocate article. The paper also reported that Travis watered plants, was able to feed hay to his owner's horses, ate at a table with the rest of the family and sometimes drank wine from a stemmed glass."
This is a terrible story, but damn, it is pretty funny.
"... liked to surf on the internet..."
"... sometimes drank wine from a stemmed glass..."
I mean come on, if the thought of a chimp drinking wine and working the internets doesn't make you snicker you don't have a pulse. You may have a conscience, and that's something to be proud of, but still.
Thats one smart and tough monkey.. "Stamford police officer later shot the chimp multiple times after the primate went after him inside a police cruiser, Conklin said. Travis returned to the house, where police found him dead. Conklin estimated that Travis weighed close to 200 pounds."

I know he was well known around town but what was that cop thinking? OK Travis, you did a bad thing now take a seat and keep quiet!

Also, how the hell did he get out of the cruiser?
Probably Googled it
