I Hate Meet & Greets
I understand their purpose, but it's just so awakward having 100 people that don't know each other in a room together, then tell them to mingle.
Tonight I used the standard "What's your name? Where are you from?" and "So you'd at least think they'd spike this punch!" lines.
Any other ideas, suggestions, or rants about these dreadful things?

I do believe I've never had to do one of these. Although the last few weddings I attended sure sound like them.

I think meet and greets are great, but I'm not as good at them as I'd like to be. I think socializing is a dying necessity with so much internet, and a good meet and greet is healthy.
Talk about anything, just like we do here on CP. Talk about meet and greets and how you hate them. If you can make a forum about something to discuss it, why not do the same in person?
Except maybe skip the poop vs puke topic until you know people a little better.

Another topic that is sure to break the ice would be "What is your favorite 'rhea' - gonorrhea, or diarrhea?"

What are these? It is for singles? Do people get laid at the end of the night?

I definitely like meet and greets.
What's not to like? You get to eat good food and you meet new people.
Your social network gets bigger and you may get some girl's phone number. The positives by far outweigh the negatives.

Then it's not for me
Seriously though, I'm really shy, these meetups would be super awkward for me.

Think of it as a non confrontational enviroment where you get to meet new people and engage in small talk. I'm rather shy myself but would love to attend one of these.

Are you a single guy? If so, there is no more convenient set-up you could possibly have to meet girls.

Buy a pitcher of beer. Grab a few mugs. Walk around the room and pour beer for people. You will be popular.
