Butterfly in the sky, I can go twice as high,
Take a look, it's in a book — Reading Rainbow ...
I loved this show as a kid and it is sad to see that it has come to an end. There were quite a few times that I saw a book on Reading Rainbow and had to get it the next time I was at the library.
That site has all the awesome kids public broadcast educational shows I remember from when I was a kid. I loved almost all of them... because I am and always have been, a big nerd!

Where is the CareBears , Smurfs, or Teddy Ruxpin movie. Reading rainbow was the only show I watched on PBS.

I'll echo what almost everybody else has said ... this was still on?! What an awesome show. I still remember the one where Levar took a rest on an old log to read a book about army ants and how they inhabit old logs ... comedic gold ensued.
Looking at that intro ... I bet a lot of work went into that. Kind of impressive for a public access show in the 80's.
The one that stands out for me was the episode where LeVar put on the pads with Kelly Hrudey, and some of the other New York Islanders...
He also did a behind the scenes with ST:TNG, cool little cross over.
From what I read, production stopped years ago, but they still aired episodes. Another part of my childhood I won't be able to share with my son.
Bit Torrent is your friend.

Good on Levar for doing the show....if you didn't know, he's also a big geek - he's been a guest on podcasts like This Week In Tech, and comes across as quite intelligent, articulate, and interesting in his personal life in addition to his onscreen work.
