Valentine's Day 2009
Just seeing if you guys/gals plan on doing anything for Valentine's, and what? Or with whom... I guess this is a question for singles and non-singles!
Not sure if I want to do the traditional cheesy Valentine's (dinner, roses, etc), or if something more low-key would be good (aka: dinner, roses haha). I'm torn. Since it's on a Saturday, it'll be extra busy at all places for food and date-like stuff.
What are some good date ideas for Valentine's day? Any unique presents?
(My Caveat: if you don't like Valentine's day, or don't celebrate it, or are a lonely soul, don't bash on my thread... unless it is to point out the CP traditional gift of H&B)
Also, I have already considered the monster trucks, but since I actually like this girl, I don't think that would be a wise decision!
Here is last year's Valentine's Thread

I'm not familiar with this Valentines Day you speak of
. . . upon further review it's some sort of made up holiday that occurs on February 14th.
Damn commercial empires trying to take away from the real holiday in February . . . FLAG DAY! (February 15th)

I'll be single when Valentines Day rolls around.
I am hoping though to spend it watching the new Friday the 13th movie, hopefully, not alone, but if it comes to that...

Crab!! And lots of it.
I haven't had King Crab in ages, I'm going to Billingsgate and buying the biggest legs I can find. Wash them down with a good bottle of Red Wine (I know, I know)
Put the kids to bed and then see how my luck is!!
What about gifts, does anyone do that??

Other than that I got nothing.

I'm flying to Phoenix to watch the Flames game with a friend. Hubby and I don't really celebrate Valentines Day since we have a wedding anniversary so he doesn't mind me leaving him home for that weekend.

I'll be single, as always, on Valentine's Day. And for the second Valentine's Day in a row, my best friend and I are taking a little road trip together.
We're going to be heading to Wilkes-Barre, PA, to see an AHL Penguins game, and do lots of eating and lots of drinking and lots of enjoying our singleness. Single Appreciation Day!

Getting hammered baby!
**Also taking advantage of female self-loathing in the form of me receiving meaningless 100% superficial sex.

It really depends on how this weekend goes.
If it goes well, I'll have plans, if it doesn't, I've been invited to a "D&D Day/Night".
Pretty much at opposite ends of the spectrum. I really don't want to have to resort to option B.

If you like Mexican food, you gotta eat at one of the two Carolina's there! I love Mexican food, so I researched the best Mexican food in Phoenix before I went there last year, and I found out about Carolina's!
Yeah, it's fast food with syrofoam plates and everything, but the prices are great and the food is so flavorful. The soft tortillas are sublime! (In particular they will blow your mind! ) It's certainly worth a visit in my opinion, and you'll never eat at Taco Time again after going there!
...now that's something to love on Valentine's Day!

While that does look good, and I do love Mexican food, its more than walking distance from Westgate. We're just have a car service drop us off at the hotel Friday and we're on foot until we fly out on Sunday. Too bad they don't deliver!

This year we are doing something different. My wife and I intend eat at Dairy Queen with our boys and then take them to the Hurricanes game (Lethbridge). The different part is going to the hockey game. Usually I'll pick up burgers on the way home from work.

Mrs. Goon and I are going to see the Dierks Bentley/Brad Paisley concert a week after as our Valentine's Day celebration.

Right on! I'm going to Pais as well, but I'm not taking the woman...
So I kinda have a question... What's appropriate right now for valentines? I've been dating a girl for about two months now. And by dating, I mean that she's been staying over at least 4 nights a week for the last few weeks. Now, we're not some lovesick kids that are acting like the last few weeks are the beginning of the rest of our lives. But at the same time, it's pretty clear that we like each other and will probably be together for the foreseeable future until she discovers my crack habit (CP) or unless I discover that she is crazy or something...
So what's appropriate for a couple-month-old relationship on valentines? Dinner, obviously. But I don't think I'm going to go and buy her anything because it seems a bit ummmm...early. Of note, at some point we had a conversation about our common dislike for flowers. We both think that flowers are a big waste of money. But I kinda want to give her something... Something that says "I thought of you" but not go overboard.
