Default Brodie...aka "smooth"

Local writer likes what he sees in TJ Brodie:

Quote:
Smooth: If T.J. Brodie doesn't have a nickname, and I've never heard his teammates call him by one, the 18-year-old defenseman should go by the moniker "Smooth" the way he glides effortlessly up and down the ice. The Dresden, Ontario, native is one of the best skaters on the team. Brodie also is producing offense consistently, picking up points in three of the last four games (1-5-6), keeping him fourth on the team in scoring (8-32-40). He's averaging nearly a point (0.91) a game and is a solid plus-11 defensively.

Big Brodie fan. I still havn't figured out why he lasted till the 4th round. Yeah I know size isn't ideal and I believe he was hurt part of last year, but the kid shows so much potential when you watch him I don't see how scouts missed it. From the first practice i saw him play he you could see his skill. I think Negrin is the guy I would call "smooth" but Brodie's offensive instincts and vision are outstanding for a dman his age.
I think he has a bright future. Not so much as a high end dman, but as a good offensive PP style one.

Is this from watching him play? Do you have any comparison NHL pro-alike?

I've only seen him play 2 games, and mostly practices.

He's in that sort of John Michael Liles type. Great puck mover who can skate and get the puck to the net.
