Default Niagara Falls - Yay or nay?

A men's rec hockey team that I join for an annual out-of-town hockey tournement has decided on Niagara, Ontario as this year's destination.

Does anyone have any input/thoughts as to whether the town there is any fun? (I.e. "hanging out with the guys" fun, not "sightseeing with the wife" fun).

The town itself is horrible, but the falls are pretty spectacular. I'd go if you've never been.

It's a neat place... Stay on the Canadian side. Lot's of stuff to see, kind of a weird place. Tons of strip clubs, lots of magic shows and museums. Overall a decent place to spend a weekend. You gotta see the falls too, they are amazing.

Yeah, the town is horrible. All I remember seeing was the casino and a bunch of cheesey wax museums. I would liken it to a trailer park tourist town.

The falls themselves are cool though. Although I'm not sure if they're cool enough to overlook the rest.

Most strip clubs per capita in Canada.

Lots of fun bars/clubs in the area and as mentioned already, a few casinos to check out that are loads of fun if you're into that.

The falls are amazing. The town is an ugly, god-forsaken waste of time. If you can stop in at Niagara on the Lake. It's not at Niagara Falls but is aways up the side of the lake. It's very nice. I'd do the falls (not in a barrel) and avoid the town but hit N on the Lake and a winery or two. Way better than that ugly town. You'll thank me.

Spend half a day at the falls - then go to the Niagra wineries.

Watching this first could make your trip more fun, possibly.

I though Niagara Falls was overrated. Niagara-On-The-Lake is a lot nicer IMO.

Niagara on the Lake for sure and visiting some wineries would be the best part of the trip.
If you haven't seen the Falls, I would go just for that.

I guess I'm in the minority, but I really wasn't that impressed with the actual Falls. I enjoyed the other sightseeing I did while I was there (keep in mind it was a school trip, so the really "fun" places were understandably off-limits), but yeah, I was pretty disappointed with the Falls themselves.

But if you're into cheesy tourist stuff like me its gold. So hokey, so campy...one of those "so bad its good" things.

The thing I remember most about Niagara Falls was this pair of immensely fat black ladies who I seem to remember wearing not enough clothing, and what they were wearing being hot pink or lime green vinyl. I took a picture of the two of them leaning over the railing to look at the falls, but I'm afraid that shot has long since disappeared.

Twice I've golfed with random people in Virginia, who couldn't stop talking about the strip clubs in Niagra Falls after I told them I was from Canada.

I think bringing a barrel would make the trip exponentially better!

Depending on how old you are and what scene you are into, there are some good bars/clubs down teh road in St. Catharines as well. Strip clubs all throughout the St. Catharines/Niagara area are golden.

Niagara Falls as a town is expensive so stick to the strip joints and casino.

i live half hour from niagara, and just spent sat. night in a hotel there with my g/f. Lots of good spots to eat, the falls are cool for a few minutes. Two good casino's within walking distance of each other.

The strip joints are awesome, anything goes..........anything.
