XBOX Repair Shipping - Rural Areas?
I got my 360 repaired a few months ago, took 2 weeks and it wasn't a hassle at all. But my little nephew is all confused because they emailed him a UPS shipping label and he lives in a small town way up north.
The closest UPS is 5 hours away.
So I call XBOX and after 20 frustrating minutes I finally got word that they do not ship by Canada Post, in Canada the only options are UPS and Purolator.
What if you do not live in a city?
I remember someone from The Pas or Flin Flon posting in an XBOX thread, did you have to pay yourself to have it sent to a UPS location? Did UPS hand it off to Canada Post to get it back to you?
Thanks!

You should be able to call UPS and they will send someone to the door to pick it up, usually via Purolator. Shouldn't have to pay a thing.
Call UPS with the shipping label info and they should be able to help you. Its an annoying part of the xbox shipping system. I had to troubleshoot it myself.

I kinda doubt that someone from Purolator is going to drive 5 hours to pick up a single package.
While I had the XBOX rep on the phone I asked her point blank, "what about people who don't live in cities, what method do they use to ship"? All I heard was silence, they had no clue.
I'm guessing that anyone not in a city has to mail it at their expense by Canada Post to the courier.

Tell your cousin to sell it on eBay as used but working and then buy a PS3 with whatever money he made from it.

It's my nephew, he already has a PS3 but it sounds like he never uses it. Kind of like me, I have a PS3 that only gets used as a BluRay player.
Both nice systems by the XBOX is far superior even with the massive hardware failure and the inconvenience of sending it back for repair.

Meow.
Purolator tends to service all the small towns etc. Might just be a good idea to call ups and find out instead of asking a question on Calgarypuk then not liking the answers.

I'll call UPS tomorrow during business hours, for sure.
I appreciate the advice, but the little guy lives 5 hours away from the closest city. They just do not have any type of courier service up there, Canada Post is the only option.

I didnt have to pay a thing. They sent the box through Purolator I believe and the first time the box was sent to a local gas station who handles Purolator packages and I just had to go pick it up and drop it off when I packaged my 360. The second time they delivered it right to my workplace and I just dropped it off at the gas station.

The Pas has courier service, that's a metropolis compared to the little place I'm talking about. I found out that UPS will hand off to Canada Post for the return delivery but you have to ship yourself to the nearest UPS location to send it out. I was told that Canada Post does not accept any packages from couriers, but there has to be some arrangement with Purolator since they are owned by Canada Post.
Oh well, already shipped out.
