Not that I think politicians should have things thrown at them, but they should be far more accountable then they are. Most of them even in free countries have little to no accountability to the public. It's good for them to get out once in a while and experience things first hand. See the rage that has built up because of their decisions.

They are supposed to be people like you and me, responsible to you and me. Not able to dodge everything in secret meetings and posh invite only dinners.

Obviously China is a different example but they obviously deserve it more than most.

Then why do people not vote? Seriously, this could all be resolved by responsible and prudent action in the democratic sphere.

If I'm going to throw my shoe at somebody I'm going to make damn sure I can at least get it near them. The Bush shoe guy set the bar mighty high, but I'm confident somebody will take it in the schnozz.

I'm not sure why people don't vote, but it's obvious that many won't. I have in all elections at every level save one civic one, and have even worked an election.

Dunno if it would really change things though. It's hard to say where the non voters would end up as they don't vote.

I just think that politicians get to dodge the public WAY to easily. Course the responsibility is up to the public too. As you mentioned many can't be bothered to vote, so getting them to do more than that, like go to rallies, join organizations, protest, etc., is difficult.

Aww....the first guy was classy, he threw a wingtip, it just doesn't have the same impact with runners.
