Mad Men Season 3 Thread
Suprised there isn't a Mad Men specific thread, or at least I couldn't find one. Season three opened up last night and it was a very interesting episode. I hope they play up the Sal storyline a lot more. It's been long enough with all the innuendo. The look Don gave him as he was coming down the fire escape was priceless.
The Campbell vs Cosgrove competition could get really fun.
The inclusion of the English folk will make some of the boardroom scenes very interesting. Love how some of the guys called the English secretary Money Penny. hahah, awesome.
Still, the lack of a HD channel for AMC has me going nuts. Oh well, the show is just awesome and deserves all the accolades that it gets.
PS, I wanna be Don Draper.

I thought it was a bit of a dull episode compared with the last few from the previous season. Still, it set out some storylines very nicely.
Oh, I liked the work that Jared Harris did on Fringe, so I was really happy to see him in Mad Men as Lane Pryce.

I can't believe there is no Mad Men fan here. Another great episode last night. To be honest, I don't think I have finished an episode thinking, "well, that sucked"
The storyline with Betty's father could get really depressing and sad to watch.
I have to say, I think Peggy is the most interesting character on TV. You never really know what she's thinking and can never be sure of her motives. Elizabeth Moss deserves a lot of credit. I think she's fan freaking tastic.

Again, love this show but to prefer not to discuss ongoing TV while watching it. I like making up my own opinions right or wrong and see if they are right.

Still shocked there are no Mad Men fans out there that wanna chat about how bloody good this show is. It's been a fantastic season so far and this past episode was amazing.
Don's life, both aspects come crumbling down and his scene with Betty will win him an award for sure. Jon Hamm is amazing.
And the ending last night just fit the episode so perfectly. It's not a show that relies on cliffhanger endings, so you're never wondering what next, just based on the ending. But the look on his face when the guy asked him, "And who are you supposed to be?" was priceless.
Come on people, let's get some Mad Men chat going. There's a reason it's won the Best Drama at the Golden Globes and Emmy for their first two seasons!!
What's gonna happen with the sale?? How's it gonna change Sterling Cooper? What's the fallout from Betty's discovery??
PS, I still wanna be Don Draper.

This is by far my favorite show on TV, but for some reason don't feel the need to discuss it.
There is some really good discussion on Tim Goodman's (of the SF Chronicle) website.

Yeah, the confrontation scene was one of the best scenes in the history of the show. I'm not sure where things go between them. As I mentioned earlier, I like Lane Pryce and I hope that he stays even if the company is sold; and it wouldn't surprise me, the way they've been setting it up with his wife hating NY when he seems to secretly love it. I'm suprised that they haven't done more with the Pete vs. Ken rivalry that they seemed to be setting up for this season.
Also, Roger had an absolutely fantastic line in this last episode when he was talking to Joan; about how there are people you want to think of you, and people you don't. In the context of Roger's story at that particular moment, it was a brilliant line.

Yeah....that scene was maybe one of my all time favorite TV moments to be honest.
Pete vs Ken....I was totally expecting a season long rivalry angle, but there hasn't really been much since that one episode and there hasn't been enough Pete on the show. He's probably one of my fav characters.

PPL planning to sell Sterling Cooper has made their competition rather irrelevant. Last night was a great episode, the best in a long time for sure. The season has really picked up after it's first few episodes.

Wow, what another fantastic episode. Jesus, this show is good tv. Loved the juggling of people coping with their problems with this huge historic event in the background. It was brilliant writing. I love how they implement these historic events from time to time to give the show a whole different tone.
Can't wait for the finale next weekend. There's so much that could happen. Very excited.

I didn't even know about this thread until now!
This is by far my favourite series on TV now, and right up there with my best ever. You might remember I used the Mad Men S1 zippo lighter DVD box as my avatar last year for quite a while.
I'll add some comments on the season another time.

yup, great episode. There was nothing really shocking, but a really great momentum to the entire thing. I hope they pick up the story fairly quickly next season, rather than jumping too far into the future.

They've never really done that, so I expect them to pick up the story down the road. Betty with the new guy, Don doing his thing, Sterling Cooper Draper Price now in a half decent office etc.......The viewer can pretty much fill the holes.

Tonight was a great episode. Hopefully next season Betty with the new man means less of Betty and the kids. The show is much better when it's focused on the people in the office.
