One of my favorite threads from this time last year. At the risk of tipping off your opponents in the Music Draft threads, post the top music lists you might find around the internets as well as your own take on the best of this past year. Looking forward to troutman's annual two-disk set.

A recent emusic download that I think may end up being my album of the year, loving it so far:
Constantines - Kensington Heights

Any list without Bon Iver raises an eyebrow from me.
Have not heard that yet, but I am interested. I probably buy 20 cds towards the end of each year, and then make final lists. I'm sure this thread will give me some ideas.
Few off the top of my head that I really enjoyed this year:
Sad Robots EP - Stars
Tobacco Road - Common Market
The Hawks is Howling - Mogwai
Dear Science - ToTR
The Rhumb Line - Ra Ra Riot
Evil Urges - My Morning Jacket
Alive - Daft Punk
Honorable Mentions
The Wishes and the Glitch - Say Hi
Bring Me Your Love - City and Colour
I also really like the Vampire Weekend album - catchy and fun to listen to.
Couple of my favorites for the year:
The Walkmen - You & Me
Portishead - Third (I ripped it on here but it really grew on me)
MMJ of course; what a great great album
Mogwai - The Hawk Is Howling
M83 - Saturdays=Youth
Killers - Day & Age
I've bought about 50 albums this year, but to be quite honest, I don't think that I could get a top 10 like troutman. I can, however, give you my all-time favourite from this year.
Wow, Im surprised people are taking to the new Cons record. I'm really not a fan.
If you have a chance, go and listen to Tournament of Hearts. Blows KH out of the water.
I'm not gonna argue with you about Tournament of Hearts, its a really good album, but something about KH just strikes a major chord with me. Really like the lyrics, and I think their most consistent album from start to finish. I can see that musically its a bit more straightforward but I think there's a lot of layers to each song.

Neither Tournament or Kensington compared to Shine a Light.

Shine a Light is a great one. I also love Tournament. Great songs. The new one is a bit meh which is too bad. Not as rock and roll as some of their oldest stuff.
Still, these guys can play. I saw them at Hifi in April 07. Great live show and they played Thunderstruck as their encore, which was quite simply awesome.
