Default Recipes for Kraft Dinner?

So I'm shopping today with my little guy (he's 9) and I ask "what do you want for dinner tonight buddy..your choice" he comes back with KD dad!

I said are you serious? he's says it's great with ketchup.

I remember eating a lot of this crap years ago for a cheap meal but I forgot how good it really tastes, Since I bought 4 boxes (on sale) I may as well ask whats the new thing to do with Kraft Dinner?

You have to teach him to pick the most expensive meat there is. With mushrooms, patatoes..mmm...

Make a tuna casserole out of it. While you're following the directions on the box to make the KD, preheat your oven to 350F and then saute up some onions, peppers and garlic in a pan. Add all the veggies and a can of tuna into your drained and cheese-powdered pasta. Mix and spread evenly in a casserole dish. Top with any extra cheese you may have on hand, I personally like to use cheddar and freshly grated parmesan. Toss in the oven for 15 min or until the cheese is melted and golden brown.

Portion up and enjoy!

Your post made me curious. I never eat KD anymore, as I never see it in China, but I went browsing and found many a tasty looking recipe here:

Four easy steps!

1. Open box
2. Remove contents
3. Eat box
4. Get more nutritional value than eating contents

I started to type my answer, and had a feeling of deja vu.

http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...ighlight=kraft

However IMHO there's no such thing as too many KD threads.

Whatever you do, don't cheap out and buy Family West macaroni and cheese. That little experiment led to three of us hunched over garbage cans puking and one of those guys with a bloody nose. Go all out when you're buying KD and get the real stuff.

Recipe-wise, if I'm feeling like I don't want just plain ol' tasty KD I'll douse it in hot sauce, or ketchup...maybe a little ranch sauce? I dunno haven't really given that one a shot yet. I have no idea what else you'd put in the stuff though.

Is there no love for the classic Hotdogd 'n KD? You can even cook it the old fashioned way (like my mom did in the 70's) and cook the dogs in the water with the KD, then slice them up and mix in with cheese....garnish with ketchup/HP/whatnot & voila! instant retro-classic!

I agree, hotdogs and ketchup!

Or ground beef and ketchup

Make KD according to box.
Spread KD in a casserole dish
Top with sliced tomatoes and finely chopped green onions
Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 10 minutes

Great meal!

Absolutely 100% agreed. That's the only kind I get now.

On a side note, I've legitimately been told by several people at different times that I make the best KD they've ever had. I dont know if that's a compliment or really depressing.

Was the guy with the bloody nose the one who bought it?

When Aeneas was a bachelor, he'd cook up creamed corn, rice, frozen peas, and KD...then mix it all together. Lived on it for a few years too. I have no idea if it's any good, I wouldn't touch it.

Make KD, mix with a can of beans, and a can of tomato soup

Or KD, beans, and a hot dog
