Default Need help with Flat screen tv and hooking it up to computer

My flat screen tv freezes every time i try to hook it up to the computer. More specifically, when I turn the computer off or when I adjust the display resolution on the computer. I am using the vga input as my computer does not have any other outputs.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

Are you sure it isn't your computer freezing?

Are you setting your PC to a resolution that the TV can handle before hooking it up to the TV?

I bought the tv a couple of weeks ago.

The computer is definitely not freezing. Its kind of weird, it worked a few times, but now no longer works.

The TV does not freeze when not connected to the comp.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The simplest thing I can recommend is to try tinkering with your computer's display resolution. Your particular model of TV has been known to cause problems (or so I read) if an inputted video resolution isn't comaptible. Most often, problems occur with a input resolution that is too low.

Try increasing your PC's display resolution and refresh rate to the highest levels they will go before connecting to the TV.

If that doesn't work, read, re-read, and closely follow the steps given on pages 42 and 43 of your user manual. link

If that still doesn't fix 'er for you, I might recommend trying a different serial VGA cable.

I had the same problem, my TV wouldn't freeze, but my monitor would flash, or would show up a different colour.

In the end tinkering with the display settings (resolution, hertz, etc) I found a combination that allowed both to work.
