Mister Rourke can once again stand beside Tattoo.

From an old thread:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corinthian_leather

Corinthian Leather is a marketing term that does not actually indicate any particular type of leather. Furthermore, Montalbán confirmed this during an interview with David Letterman, admitting that Corinthian leather means "nothing." [3] In fact, according to one reference, Chrysler's "Corinthian" leather was mass produced in a plant in Newark, New Jersey (not Corinth).

http://archshrk.com/2006/05/ricardo-...nthian-leather

Video ^^^

The director and advertising executives loved the way the actor pronounced “Corinthian”, and it did not bother them at all that there was no such thing as “Corinthian leather”. It exuded luxury, whatever it was, and that is what they wanted.

To market their slightly down-sized luxury automobile, Chrysler hired actor Ricardo Montalbán. Advertising executives insisted that Mexican-born Montalbán mispronounce the name “Cor-DO-ba” instead of “COR-do-ba”, like the city in Spain. Montalbán rationalized that one was the City, the other was the car.

Wow- $50K in circa 1980 dollars for a 3 day trip. Might be worth it if you were trying to get the devil to give you your soul back or something, but some people had some downright silly fantasies- ones that could be accomplished in Vegas for a lot less money.

I used to have a white cordoba 2 door with red corinthian leather, and a red roof.. so EVERYtime someone got in my car they did the Ricardo thing..It got old pretty fast! That was a nice car. I was 16 and it was the first car I had. Funny though, every time I think of that car I think of Ricardo.

I'm pretty sure it was the SCTV version of Ricardo (played by Eugene Levy) that actually said "rich Corinthian leather" during the "Ricardo Montalban School of Fine Acting" skit.

Tattoo was a creepy freak. He probably shortened Montalban's lifespan by years.

My first car was a Cordoba. Sadly it didn't have the corinthian leather option... I wish I kept that car.
