Sleep Clinics?
Do they actually work? I've had sleeping problems for nearly my entire life. It takes me forever to get to sleep and when I do, I wake up several times in a night. I've tried sleeping pills but they don't work. Just wondering if anyone here has ever tried a sleep clinic and if it worked.

Can you talk a bit more about it?
When you lie in bed, does your brain start going 100 mph on all sorts of things?

Basically. I just start thinking about all sorts of different things and I can't seem to calm it down. Then I'll fall asleep for about two hours and then wake up about 3 or 4 times after that.

I had medication but it didn't do the trick. Which one do you use?

But on a more serious note, when you lay in bed do you have restless arms and legs? To the point where it almost aches?

I'm the same way, I've never tried a sleep clinic...
I've been told to get more exercise (I'm in very good shape as it is, not an athlete or anything but better than most), try meditation, hypnosis type tricks to calm me or relax me. Warm milk, etc. Nothing really works enough to call it 'successful'.
I think clinics mostly monitor your sleep then make recommendations like for breathing and snoring and relaxation etc. But I could be wrong. Information would be great.

Nope. I get twitchy and move around a lot but that's about it.

I don't get sore, but I get 'itchy'. Like all of a sudden I can feel all the little itches that I would never notice during the day. Fuels into that restless feeling.

Well I know my sleep problems are stress related, I'm not sure about you guys. Talking to a doctor would be a good idea.

I think it's a bit of both for me. Stress is definitely part of it, but I don't think it's the whole part, cause I had the problem when I was very young.
I talked to my cardiologist about it, he's the one that told me to get more exercise. I guess I just gotta bring it up again, ask to see a specialist or something.

Same here, stress used to make it alot worse, but its alot better now. Like Daradon, this has been a lifelong thing for me. When I was 5 or 6, I once went 4 days without sleeping; just lay in bed all night for a few nights, and in the morning my mom would find me still awake. I'm pretty fit, I'm active pretty much every day and play a ton of sports. I have meds, but I don't use them. And I don't get achy arms or legs.

Hmm...well I guess I'm the only crazy one with aching limbs then. But anyway, I just took my backup meds (beers), I'm going to hit the sack.

^^^ Good luck!
Seems weird to wish a person good luck upon going to bed, but I think we all get it here.

I had a friend that tried melatonin and it worked.
But I also had a friend that melatonin didn't work for.... I think she switched to smoking a joint before bed. Remembering my teen years, that would probablly work for me.
Unfortunately it's illegal

I use Melatonin when I travel. It works really well for jetlag, and I would assume it's worth trying for you people that can't sleep too well.
Whenever I get bad insomnia I just smoke a little weed, and it knocks me out. In fact, I did that last night and I feel great.....except for the box of smarties I ate (after the 2 burgers and bag of chips).

I've always had this. I used to refer to it as my bones tickling. It kinda feels like this sensation in my legs that maybe is an ache in the bones and I want to get up and run, or move them or something... It infuriates me.
