Default Auto Shop Labour Rates in Cowtown?

What`s an average auto shop labour rate in Calgary?

Canadian Tire is quoting me at $115 bucks an hour. I'm sure that reasonable for the 17 year old drop outs and new Sait grads that they have working there.

My starter blew and they are charging me $115 bucks for the first hour to diagnose and $115 bucks for the second hour to install a new starter.

It takes 10 mins to diagnose a dead starter.. If it doesnt crank, the battery is good, and the relay is still sending power to the starter its definitely the starter.

I suggest avoiding Canadian Tire for mechanical repair. I'm sure there are decent techs, but they probably arent very common.. $115-$125 an hour is pretty typical.

Avoid Crappy Tire if you can.

I bought a used truck from my boss that had 180,000km on it. Ray had looked after everything on it down to oil-changes since new. It runs like a dream.

His shop rate I think is $75/hr, but don't quote me. Also, he doesn't mind at all if you provide your own parts, as long as they're new.

Also, he drinks Pilsner.
