I often get some weird numbers calling me, often you can tell when they're just telemarketers, or a machine calling numbers to see if it get's answered on not, at which point it's then added to a list.

However today someone called me from 999-000-0000 asking for Rosa or something. They seemed quite confused. I told them wrong number and they called back once more, again looking for Rosa or something.. It was weak English with I think an Asian accent.

Certainly thought it was a strange number.

I just finished reading The Bourne Legacy by Eric Van Lustbader which has me probably into paranoid thinking

Everytime CIT Financial calls me at work about my photocopier lease it comes up 905-000-0000. Not sure why, but it makes them easy to spot. Heh heh hehhh.

Government agencies use masked numbers like this. I'm surprised to see a non-governmental agent getting authorization to use a mask in this fashion. Rules must be different from country to country or State to State. It's nothing to worry about when you get a call from one of these numbers. And no, that black helicopter is not following you either. BTW... is your life insurance paid up?

Meh, just treat it like Jack Bauer would. Go on a rampage to extort information anyway you can.

I think you just got a call from an offshore call centre. Probably somewhere in India. Or maybe PEI.

Yup, likely. I've gotten one before, too....well actually i didn't get, but a family member did. Just told them that I wasn't there, and to stop calling.

And by gosh, it did.... (gosh?).

if I see 1-800 on the caller ID, I have the option on my phone to hit "end" and it hangs up. I like the do that

also if I say Hello.... Hello and there's a few second wait... I hit "end" and all is well.

Well that's why it seemed weird. It was some Asian dude with garbled english looking for "Rose" or "Rosie" and he seemed confused he coulda had the wrong number, then called again.

Not the usual annoying obvious crap they do/try

My mom seems to think that if you answer the phone and push a whole bunch of random numbers, it messes up their call center or cpu system or something, and then they leave you alone. I have no idea if that works, but that's what she does.
