I don't get it either, I'm Asian and have a rather big family, none of us have these. It's kinda ridiculous if you ask me.

I was travelling in a little town a couple of days ago and I saw a BMW that had a miniature bottle of Hennessey in a bottle cradle as a dashboard ornament. Wish I'd taken a picture to contribute to this thread.

It doesn't stop with cars. A lot of Asian girls seem to have an obsession with Hello Kitty and crap like that, and it goes into their homes, on their phones, jewelry and everywhere. I don't get it.

I'm asian but I don't have those...
I know my mom has headrest covers in her car, not exactly ornaments...
What's the deal with them? There isn't, some people like them, some don't... mind you, that's probably why a lot of accidents involve Asians, it's either because they're too short and have to look between the steering wheel and the top of the dash and therefore can't see properly... or these ornaments are getting in the way and they can't see properly...

I'm Asian and don't have all the ornaments. All I have is one little bear sitting on my dash and a Flaming C hanging from my rear view mirror.
I think it has to do what you think is attractive. You're influenced by your friends. Kinda like how some people think a million christmas decorations on their front yard is attractive and some don't.

Italians use this:
I have this exact one hanging in my car and wouldn't drive my car without it.
I think it wards off envy, but is basically like an Italian rabbits foot, I think asian people do the same thing with the stuff they hang from the dash.

I have hello kitty on some stuff, and the playboy bunny on some other stuff
The rest is sports stuff.
I don't have anything hanging from my car dashboard.

This one white guy I once worked with drove without a rear-view mirror. He said the mirror got in his way.
What's the deal with White drivers and their lack of rear-view mirror?

Oh...I'm sorry there Mr. Sarcasm, I should have phrased it with "What's the deal with A LOT of Asian drivers"
Does that make it better?

I think you should take it easy there man. As someone who lives in Asia and has been around Asia a fair bit I can assure you there is a pretty high percentage of cars with dashboard ornaments and other little decorations. It's not a race thing, but there's definitely something cultural about it. Perhaps you've never noticed a common fondness for cute things in a lot of East Asian culture, but it's much more prominent here than in Western cultures.

Agreed.
I was in Ireland last summer and every second car had a beer can ornament on the dashboard.

I see a lot of those Native Dreamcatcher thingy's hanging from peoples mirrors, they are actually supposed to be hung in your bedroom window to avoid nightmares though.

It's recommended to hang the dream catcher above someone sleeping to guard against bad dreams. "Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through . . . Good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web, where they perish in the light of dawn."
