Default Auto glass and car alarms

Time to poll the near infinate knowledge of CP...

Some #@^&#$&^(* broke into my car last night, and did so by busting in the passenger side door window. Any reccomendations on where to go to get it replaced?
Also, any ideas on costs/places for a car alarm? I have a 2 year old Ion and it's been broken into 3 times.

Go anywhere which is convenient to get it replaced, I don't think there is much diff. Instead of an alarm just put a sign out saying the door is unlocked and there is nothing in the car.

Years ago when I lived downtown my side window was smashed twice in the "secure" underground garage. After the second time I just left nothing of value in the car and kept the window rolled down.

I left my doors open all the time so that no one would smash a window to break in.

Of course... the geniuses smashed the window anyway, despite the door being open... that sucked.

And that's what happened to me...I've left a back door open, but apparently these guy(s) were too stupid to find it. The really frustrating thing is that what was in the car was nowhere near the cost the window will be...and they even left the change that was on the passenger seat (about 20 cents).
As for leaving a window down, I've thought about it, but my parking although covered is outside, so don't want what vestiges of warmth you get on cold mornings to be gone, or even worse, the odd wisp of snow that would end up in my car.

Been there, done that!

Last August I parked my car in that impark lot on 8th Ave and Center Street, kind of by the Hyatt. It's a soft top, so I pretty much can't lock the door or else they'll just slash my roof or whatever. Anyways, long story short: unplanned trip to the hospital and my car was out there for four days! I get back to my car early one morning and there is some guy sitting in it!!! I asked him if he needed a ride anywhere, but he said no, he was just getting some "shut eye". He didn't take anything, like the change or some things I had in the back seat. He seemed like a pretty nice guy...

Needless to say, my next stop was for a complete car cleaning.

Also a member of the "had my car broken into in my underground parkade" club here.

Try Kings Glass by Chinook, they were cheap and did a good job on my Honda.

Resurrecting a thread of my own from a couple years back...car alarms...where is a good place to go get one? The leaving the car empty thing doesn't work apparently, so I have to get an alarm or I'll have to be in my parkade with a shotgun to keep the scum from breaking my car windows.

Bankview...issue is that our parking area is secluded, and not that secure. Most of the other cars in the building have alarms, so I guess mine is seen as the easy target, which is why I want the alarm.
