Exactly, he's a kicker. How hard is it to open your yap when you never really have to back it up. Someone needs to tell Vanderjagt about a little thing called Karma. You keep spewing trash out your mouth and New England can keep beating you, year in and year out. It's stuff like this that makes me hope the Colts lose, even though it's only one guy saying it.

What was he supposed to say?
"we're probably going to lose"?
I don't get it. Whats wrong with saying your team is going to win?

I think this is a bit blown out of proportion. Like Tranny said what is he supposed to say and he is just a kicker.
Had a guy like Manning or James said it then I think it would be more newsworthy but even then I don't think it should really change anything.

What he could have said is something along the lines of
"I think if things go right, we have a good chance....."
Thats something Iginla would say.

Here is what he said...as quoted
Quote:
Speaking about the Patriots, he said "I think they're ripe for the picking" in Sunday's playoff matchup with the Colts.
Vanderjagt also said on WISH-TV in Indianapolis that, "I think they're not as good as the beginning of the year and not as good as last year."
|
Seems to me he is simply assessing his teams chances. He didn't flat out state that the Colts would win...simply because of circumstances this year, the Colts have a better shot at beating the Patriots.
I agree with him. The loss of Richard Seymour and Ty Law is huge. That cant be understated.

Yeah, if the Colts don't think they can beat the Pats than they've already lost the game. I guess anything he says will be taken out of context based on his past, he could be more diplomatic when he speaks like Manning is, but than again is the world so wishy washy that you can't state that you think the football team you play on is pretty good?

remember when everyone called him an idiot for calling out Peyton and Tony. Well geuss what, that worked and he lit a fire. All the guy said was he thinks they can win and the Pats aren't as good. They got Ty Law out and a few other injuries so there not!!! What a stupid reason for the media to blow this up. Also any media guy who's saying OO now the pats have something to rally around bla bla bla is stupid.
I agree with everything Vandy said, there is a definte chance of beating the Pats. Just because he's on one of the teams doesen't mean he can say that? He didn't do it in a unclassy way either. This is the same guy that flew down all the O-Line guys when he made the pro bowl. He's the guy always getting the crowd reved up and first to pat guys on the back. Yes he's only a kicker but he's a good guy!

As a huge pats fan for the last 12 years, that little comment to me was blown so out of proportion its not even funny. The only thing I think he should not have said was that the pats are ripe for the picking. I mean, thats just a little disrespectful. You dont hear the Pats D telling that they will tear apart Manning or that Edge will fumble twice again like the season opener. Whatever, not a big deal, having said that.......
GO PATS GO
ill be wearing my Tedy Bruschi jersey all weekend long, I am soooooo pumped for this one.
