Default 4 am and somebody starts pounding on our door

This lunatic starts pounding on our door early this morning, and stares in on us. He does this for a while, I shout at him to leave, he then circles our house and comes back and starts pounding again. Needless to say I called the RCMP. They finally arrive, ask me if I know the guy, and then arrest him on the spot and cart him off.

Well I'm freaked out now. Takes me ages to settle the kids down, my wife's in a tizzy. Freakin' unbelievable. Finding it difficult to settle down myself so here I am on CP.

Anyone else have weird crap like this happen to them at home?

Was the guy stoned or something? Wow that would have me pretty riled up and pissed off. The urge to attack him with a baseball bat would have been pretty strong.

I'm guessing it was 'something'. Stoners are not particularly known to express aggression when high.

At least the police arrived when he was still there so he could be arrested. Glad nothing too serious happened while he was causing trouble though.

You could have shouted back through the door, "The sky is blue..." and waited for his response.
That could have narrowed down the possibilities of where he came from.

Seriously, Jagger. Very sorry to hear that happen to you and your family. I had a similar incident a few weeks ago, but I never showed my presence to him and he eventually drove away. It's freaky indeed.

Be sure to keep in touch with the arresting officer, and have an incident number to refer to. As the victim you have rights to know what is happening with the accused, and even to know what was going on.

Odds are the guy was drunk or something, and thought that it was his buddy's house, or his step-father's house or something.

You might even want to look into getting a camera for outside. They aren't expensive these days, and it may help your family's peace of mind that anytime they hear something they can flick on the TV and see that there is just a car driving down the street. (or whatever.)

Really? Somebody should inform the guy that was on meth that pulled a knife on me and my buddy for no reason at all.

You're kidding right?
I've experianced aggressive stoners before. It all depends on their personality!

I assumed with 'stoned' that he was referring to MJ.

But on that same vein: Does soberness then not lead to aggression too? I was jumped by four tipsy, but not fully drunk, people on the street not too long ago. I'm not going to generalize that I have to protect myself from tipsy people now.

Am I kidding that stoners (i.e. potheads) are generally considered passive and not aggressive? No am I not, not at all.

Sorry to hear this, I hope you are able to follow up and get some answers as to who this guy was and why he was doing that. It would help give you some peace of mind.

Years back I was up really late watching a movie. Suddenly there's a knock on my door. This is about 2 am. But I'm so engrossed in the movie I don't really clue into how late it is. I just hop off my couch, go to the door and open it.

As dude starts coming through it suddenly occurs to me that "WDF! It's like 2 am!". I manage to slam the door back on him and prevent him from coming in. He continues to pound away on the door, mumbling away, and occasionally shouting.

I fetch my big 'ol wooden baseball bat that I keep under my bed and go back to the front door. He sees it but continues to knock and mumble so I swing it through the air in an effort to show him what's in store for him if I decide to open my door again.

That seems to work as he rambles off.

Didn't sleep the rest of the night.

Did the man have x-ray vision to see your bat through the door?

It was a old style big wood door with three vertical windows in the center.

I would be freaked out by this and be unable to sleep. I think the key for me would be to find out from the police why he was there. I have to think they questioned him about everything he did that night/morning. If he was high and mistakenly thought your house was someone else's, chances are he won't be back. Chances are there isn't a connection of this guy to anyone in your family but peace of mind will come from having that clarified by your local police.

I lived in a condo in college, in a very safe area so locking doors wasn't an obsession. I'd usually lock the door as I was going to bed. One night I fell asleep on the couch watching TV and was awakened by some strange drunk man looking for "Geno." It scared the crap out of me. I told him to get out and I called the police. It turns out Geno lived about three buildings down and did know this guy. Just knowing this guy was just in the wrong place made it much easier for me to sleep that night. I knew he wouldn't be back.
