Default I've got no heat

Well, very little heat anyway. I am in a fairly new condo complex, with baseboard heating, and it has stopped working tonight. Yes, I've paid all my bills. Is there anything I can do on my own to troubleshoot this problem? The thermostat may be messed up, as the temperature reading seems to be staying at 20 C. I can probably get the company to come and look at it tomorrow, but I'm a little cold tonight. Thoughts?

Water. Sorry, should have mentioned that. It seems to turn on and off when I adjust the thermostat, but then the things never give off much heat, and right now, I have the thing cranked all the way to the right, and the baseboard heater things are cold.

I'm in the same boat - the fan on the furnace has conked on me. Brutal timing.

Check with other people in the building to see if they are having a similar problem. If they are then it could be a problem with the buildings boiler.

It's not the most efficient method, but if you have an electric stove then turn it on, and open the door that first notch. Leave it set low like 200 F, and at least you won't freeze.

Heat is working elsewhere. I had a problem with my heat at the start of the winter, so maybe this is a problem from construction or something.

I have the heat guys coming over tomorrow after work, I just wish it wasn't so damned cold outside.

Yeah geez my furnace acted up today, I guess it just conked out and it's an HEF, relatively new home but outside the 1 year window. Anyway the wife said she was playing around with it and now it works fine again, I don't get it but whatever, going to ask our furnace installer tomorrow what's up.

The day you became mexican is the day your furnace takes a siesta.

Open up the thermostat and make sure the wire connections are good. It might be just a loose wire.

Yeah, everything looks OK. It's weird, because I can sometimes turn the thermostat on, and get some heat out of the vents for a brief period of time, but then they go back to being cold. No heat.

Is there a faucet handle on either end of your heater? Did you check if it's open all the way? Lefty-loosey, righty-tighty.

It looks like there is something that might be a faucet handle, but I haven't been able to remove the covering to get at the actual inner working of the system. I don't want to reef on it too much and break anything. I've tried pushing down on it though, basically trying to move it to the left, and it doesn't want to move.

Most of those things are held on by metal brackets every couple/few feet. Just pull it off and you'll be able to snap it back on afterward with a little bit of logic and care. But for the record, it's pretty unlikely that the faucet handle is the problem. If it's pretty covered and hard to get at, chances are slim that it was screwed with to begin with. I suggested it because I thought there was a possibility that there were kids around that may have fooled with it. If that's impossible, then risking damage to the metal cover is probably not worth your while.

Yeah, there is no chance it was touched. I'll just see what they say tomorrow, hopefully they can fix the problem quickly.

Thanks guys.
