Default PS3 Headset advice

So how essential is a headset for playing PS3 games online?

And what are some good inexpensive options for a PS3 headset?

i was able to get my bluetooth set from my BB to work. though i also had an old logitech USB headset that worked as well. the USB one was only like $10 a couple years ago.

depending on the games you play, a headset can be integral. for those of us that play nhl09, its really great to have a headset as we all can communicate while playing.

but i would imagine for some games it would be pretty unimportant.

If you want to get the official PS3 branded bluetooth one, it costs about $45. But you can get it bundled with a game usually for $50. I got the headset and Navy Seals: Socom together for $50.

If you're playing online with someone you know, the headset is great. If you're playing with strangers, I'd say it depends on which game you're playing.

I bought a cheap bluetooth at winners for like $25 and linked it up to my ps3 and works like a charm. I also have a usb headset but much rather prefer the bluetooth.
