I'll go first!
I'm doing a gift exchange, and I need to get a gift for a late 20s male in Palm Springs. I want to get him something Canadian, but he got a nickelback cd covered in maple syrup last year. Any suggestions?

^^ Actually I would rather let this thread live. The other one was too specific; I'd like to see something general.
Two things that I recently picked up that now has my g/f thinking she should get for her dad; one is a weather station- it turns out she checks the temperature more than I do now. The other is an Energy Meter. I use it all the time to see how much power things use. For example, my LED Xmas lights only use 4 watts of power for the whole lot, but the wreath with regular mini bulbs takes 20 watts.

I'm getting my mother a digital picture frame.
My sister is getting a bunch of soaps from the Rocky Mountain Soap company (I just need to make some sort of a gift basket thing).
My Brother-in-law is getting a Harmony programmable remote that was on sale at Dell on one of their sales a while ago.
Still figuring out something for my father, but I need to get it by this weekend so I can get it shipped.

I got this one- when it was on sale for about $25. The forcasting isn't that accurate, but the temperature seems to be about right. For example last night with the wind howling it was showing rapid changes in the .1 to .3 degree range; what I would expect to see.
But for me being over 30 km from the airport it is handy to know that even though it was -5 there it may have been -15 by my place. It also has high/low temps that you can reset; so you know if there was frost overnight or not.
The one knock against this one; it only allows for 1 external temperature sensor. It might be handy to also know what the temperature is in the garage, or next year when I might build a greenhouse.

Hey all the wifey would like a new purse for Christmas.. Anyone have any suggestions? I obviously am not up on the latest trends in handbags. We do have 2 small children so something that would go over the shoulder would be good i suppose.
Don't really want to spend more than $300 or so on it..Would spend a bit more for THE one but...
BTW i am amazed at the price of some of these things. I looked at a Hermes bag today that was like $40k

i was recommended by my friend to go online shopping. lots of good deals if you feel comfortable in the security. some stores offer free shipping (almost a given), some also offer special incentives. in this economy status, it may be a good alternative. of cos when it comes to buying clothes, shoes, or some stuff, you cannot touch it... just my 2 cents.

I would go with a Coach bag if she's into designer purses. www.coach.com and Im sure you can get delivery to Canada. They are nice, good quality and not as outrageous as Louis Vuiton or Burberry or Hermes etc....but still a really good name.

I can't figure out what to get my parents.......I was going to get my mom a digital picture frame as one of you suggested, but soemone just gave her one! She wants "something for the house", not an appliance, but a picture or decoration or some art or something that she can display. I am willing to spend upto $200 US. Any suggestions? I could get it delivered straight to their house if its something too large for me to carry on the plane.
My sis thought of something awesome (wish I thought of it first). Since we haven't gotten a family portrait done lately but have taken a decent amount of nice pics, she's going to blow up some pictures and get them framed. My parents moved to Calgary fairly recently and since my dad got diagnosed with cancer pretty soon thereafter, they didnt get to decorate a lot and have some big wall space.
My brother is getting my dad a new chair. He already has one (its a recliner) thats downstairs and he loves sitting in it. however, he doesnt have one upstairs and his cancer hurts him so sitting on the couch upstairs just isnt as comfy. Good pic Neil with the chair, dad's going to LOVE it!
Now I gotta think of something for the parents....
please help!

My husband just got a new BMW 128i and I want to get him something for his car perhaps. I just dont have any idea what! Are there car accessories that a guy who's into his car would want. I know he wants new rims but I cant afford those. I want to spend upto $200...if not, Ill just get him the iPod touch hehe.
So I thought of something that I could possibly get him, or else tell my parents to get him since they were asking me for ideas as well..one of those alarm clocks you can charge your iPhone/Ipod on and it will play music from there to wake you up. It's a charger/alarm clock and very cool looking! Not too bad price wise in the US (between 70 and 100), not sure about the price in Cowtown.

Coach Bags are nice, I got one in the states on sale this summer, regular 400 for 200. We don't get sales in Canada, so try the Macy's site or Nordstrom. They regualary have sales. BUT believe me you do not have to get a coach bag to make a woman happy. Guess bags are almost as popular and much cheaper, and for half the price you can get a bag AND a matching wallet, which is something I like to have. Go to www.guess.ca and there are canadian prices on that site. Anything Crocodile or Snake looking are very hot right now. I'll even go as far to show you one thats really popular, I'll post it in a minute.

Well the one I was thinking of is off the site, but this one is my favorite on the site right now. They don't seem to have a big selection right now for some reason. http://www.guess.ca/ProductDetails.a...e=VS188302-BLK
