Was thinking about doing the NYC thing thanks to those cheap fares, but on further deliberation, maybe not until summer or fall, and go somewhere guaranteed sunny in the next two months. (if we can do both).

Would love to see NYC for 4 or 5 days though.

So how do I get home from Vancouver if I want to go?

bah, stupid sales, return is 71... it looks all cheap and dandy, but total comes to 221, that's not much different then a regualr fare from westjet... lame..

I wish they were forced to advertise the full fare, with taxes, AIF and whatnot. Totally misleading as it is.

It's not misleading... I had a flight from Calgary to Thunder Bay for $350, and when the seat sale notice was sent to me, I switched it to $140 (final cost). There is potential to save lot's of cash, you just have to search through the different days and flights as all discounts will not be the same.

Well it might be misleading in some areas while not in others.

It actually is pretty damn cheap.

I.E Wancouver

For a return flight: $59 x 2 = $118 + $77 in junk = $195 + GST ($30 of junk is airport improvement fees for Calgary and Wancouver)

so call it about $210. Good luck finding that in the summer. I got a westjet vancouver flight for $180 all in just recently. The longer flights end up being a better deal because your $80 in junk doesn't seem as bad when your total ticket price is $500.

The only thing that is a little lame is this sale has been going on since late november or early december and they just keep extending it, and extending it, and extending it....

Yeah gone are the days of the $130 all in return flights to Van of 5-6 years ago...or $260 flights to TO/MTL/OTT

The AIF fees, and Sept 11 security fees and extra fedreal taxes have pushed it up $80-$100.

The seat sale keeps getting pushed back, so the only tickets you will see making big drops are the ones that were just after the end of the last seat sale. So right now for instance the beginning of march will be the ones coming down in price I think.

I can't really go anywhere right now either, but I always look and try convince myself I should go somewhere stupid

Seat sales abound. When else can you go to new york for $430 incl taxes

Westjet from calgary.

$59 One Way to Vancouver
$99 One Way to Los Angeles (LAX)
$99 One Way to Toronto (Pearson)
$99 One Way to San Francisco
$129 One Way to Ottawa
$139 One Way to Phoenix
$139 One Way to Palm Springs
$148 One Way to New York (LaGuardia)
$154 One Way to Montréal
$159 One Way to Halifax
$199 One Way to Orlando
$199 One Way to St. John’s
Well with United Airlines through expedia.ca you can go to NY from the 20th to 27th for $365. I haven't looked at any other dates though. Although it does require a connection, it is with all taxes and fees included.

I just booked a trip to NY for that same week!

Hotel too, THAT was the bitch! CRAZY hard to find a great place, especailly that weekend, being Presidents Day or something!

I saw that United fare, and it is cheaper to connect through Chicago then Toronto, but then you have to go through American-airport hell twice each way, no thank you! I pitched the extra $35, total, to fly WJ there and AC back. Then it is only the cross border flight that they are all over you, half the chance of being stopped. The inter-Canada stuff is much nicer then when you have the misfortune of running into a militant American security guy. "Sir, do you mind if i juggle your balls while i look for explosives?" Umm... yes? eek!

Claeren.
