Thought I would share this article in the New York Times today regarding the differences in technique and physiology between your garden variety 10 km runner and an Olympic marathoner.
Aside from some very good tips for the garden variety runner is this paragraph on the coming Olympic marathon race in Athens.
The 26-mile, 385-yard course includes, among other body-bashing stretches, a 13-mile hill so steep it has been described as the equivalent of running up a five-story building every mile.
I can't wait for that race . . . . on TV!!
