not sure if most of you have seen 'elephant'. (gus van sant directing) but i feel compelled to seek outside opinions because i was SEETHING after watching that miasmic turd of a motion picture

i should preface this and say that i am living overseas and don't get movies at the same release date as most of you do and caught this one today.

sweet jesus,, that rocketted to the top 2 WORST movies i have ever seen. EVER. police academy 5 will be sad to hear that they have been toppled.

im not itchin for an argument but i would love to hear from someone who thought favorably of that movie. it apparantly won best director award at Cannes which blew me away.

if following around teenagers for a day with a video camera now qualifies as art then count me out. that was perhaps the most pretentious, wretched movies to date in my mind. if that was the final cut, i shudder to think what state the cutting room floor is in

thoughts?

I sure didn't think it was that bad. It wasn't fantastic or anything but I thought it was stylish and honest. The people I watched it with hated it too though so you're not alone.

Absolutely brutal. I was pretty disapointed that I wasted two hours of my life watching that crap.

i know how you feel.. i was p*ssed off not only at how pointLESS the movie was but how it seemed as though the entire crew felt as though they were providing a microscope into the psyche of youth today.

i have no idea why the writer/director decided that making the antagonists engage in a gay shower scene would somehow enhance the movie other than for the pure shock value of it all. not only was there was no reasoning behind but it seemed an afront to gay people as a whole. the feeling i got off it was gay = deviant = richard ramirez... absolutle bollocks

if you havent seen it, dont doubt how disconnected all of the scenes seem and what puerile dialogue exists between all the characters.

my goal is to save but one person from watching this manure.. it really is that bad ( i wouldn't have taken the time to write about it if it weren't)

Sounds like how I felt after seeing Club Dread. Super Troopers was a hilarious movie, so I expected at least some comedy their second go around, but Club Dread is easily the worst movie I've ever seen. Not counting TimeLine of course, but that movie is in a wretched category of its own.

Club Dread was alright. If anything Super Troopers is the most overrated movie ever right next to Office Space. I enjoyed both but they way people talk about em you would think they are gushing about Citizen Kane or The Godfather.

Really? Well, I guess I hate my friend AND you.

I thought CD was the worst piece ever. Its like they wanted to do a comedy/horror, and 10 minutes in forgot about the comedy and went for gore and horror, which is not really what I was expecting, nor did it run w/ my tastes. The characters were completely unbelievable and miscast. Farva as the main character? Ramathorn playing a lame English tennis-player? Give me a break.

Though, if you didn't like Supertroopers that much, maybe your expectations started fairly low. I thought ST was fantastic (though I must admit I've never watched it 'sober').
