Meteor in Calgary @ 9:45pm
So, I was outside between the 2nd and 3rd period of the game, around 9:45pm and a fairly substantial meteor was burning up travelling from north to south. Just wondering if anyone else saw it; it was the biggest meteor I have ever seen....large white streaks burning up. It probably took a good 8 seconds before the thing finally burned up.

Earth's orbit takes it through an asteroid belt every year in late November, which results in a higher than normal volume of meteors. Obviously an event like the Marsden meteor is abnormal, but a lot of meteor activity this time of year is normal.

Maybe Megan Fox comes down with the Transformers...I'd be okay with that.

About ten years ago, one summer towards evening, I saw a huge meteor travelling north to south while I was driving west along Marlborough Dr. I pulled over to keep it in sight and a lot of other cars did also. It looked like it was heading towards Montana. I couldn't find any reports about it afterwards and I guess to bring it up, just brings out the jokes, but Alberta has great skies for watching. Out here right now, there is about a 30' visibility range.

Sounds very cool. I do have one piece of advice though--if a black, sentient sludge comes out of it, don't wear it as a suit. Not the kind of thing you expect to have to mention, but you'd be surprised how often that seems like a good idea....

This post reminds me of when someone makes a hilarious joke, and then the one guy that didn't laugh starts off his next sentence with "Technically......"
