"I've been a librarian for 40 years and this is the only book I've objected to so strongly that I wouldn't allow it to circulate," Robert Willits, director of the Jackson-George Regional Library System, told the Associated Press.

"We're not an adult bookstore. Our entire collection is open to the entire public," he said. "If they had published the book without that one picture, that one page, we'd have the book."

Eeeek. Nudity. I wonder if the Jackson-George Regional Library System also carries Maxim or Cosmo?

A little prudish are we?

I'm halfway through the book, and I haven't found any nudity... not yet anyway.

insentive to keep reading perhaps?

after flipping through and finding the nudity

I don't blame the library... in all fairness you're SUPPOSED to cover the nakedness, but still *shudder*

Wow, some people go a long way to deny the human body's existance. Face it people, everyone's got one or the other, there's no secret here.

Nudity for the sake of sexual or erotic gratification is one thing, nudity for the sake of art, literature, or whatever shouldn't be a problem. Would they ban pictures of Michelangelo's David? I'd say Stewart's book has to rank up there w/ David

THe nudity is the heads of the supreme court justices put onto the naked pictures of some old people.. Honestly, it's pretty rediculous.

Must be one lame library if that's the raciest thing he's seen in 40 years.

The good folks at Warner Publishing have to be very happy about this development though. The only thing better than selling 10 copies of a book to a library in Jackson, Mississippi is not selling 10 copies of a book to a library in Jackson, Mississippi and getting several million dollars of publicity out of it.

Just for fun I did a quick check for some filthy/highly-regarded books and authors in the catalog of that library.

Tropic of Cancer --- nope
Charles Bukowski -- he has lots of books and is quite famous but gets nary a mention
Portnoy's Complaint -- nope
Lolita -- YES!

So yeah, it's a pretty lame library.

Well, some have both....but that's not really the point I guess. :P
