What is a buniak? I have heard that term in relation to ukrainians but don;t know what it means.
No idea what that references to...there is a mayor in Lviv by that name, but if its used in a endearing or other form I dont know. There is no food or alcohol that is referred to by that name or sounding name.

Thanks Gerry!

I forgot how to say 'Merry Christmas' in Ukranian. I remember happy Easter, (though I'm sure I'd butcher the spelling if I tried) but it means Christ is Risen! Chirstmas must mean, 'Christ is Born!'

We usually have a huge feast for Uke Christmas. Not this year, everyone too spilt up. But I have some great memories.

Do you make your Kutya from Chirstmas eve snow? A tradition in our family, I don't know if it's completely traditional or not, but definitely a nice tradition. Much easier in Winnipeg where most of our family is from too. Try to get fresh snow by putting a container out when it's still falling.
