Default Wii Rockband extra guitar: Mission impossible

Well I was exposed to rock band for the first time on Sunday. Personally thought I would hate it, but wow was I surprised.

Great fun, great game for a group/party.

So off to Best Buy I went yesterday to pick up my own rendition for my place. Unfortunately I have a Wii, so immediately I am in a bit of a hole considering every popular game for that system seems to become a crusade to find a store that actually has it in stock. Completely frustrating.

Anyways, found it at best buy, brought it home and played with my kids and family last night, etc.

As anyone who has played this game is probably aware, it really shines when you have a full gamut of players going at the same time. So I am now on the search for an extra guitar for my game.

Problem is, good luck actually finding an extra wii guitar in this city that is compatible with Rock Band.

Anyone else out there have any experience with this pain?

Tons of Guitar Hero equipment (which isnt compatible with Rock Band of course) -minor exception being xbox360 of course, but I dont have that system.

Maybe I should just give up on the Wii and buy a 360 or PS3 so I dont have to go through this torture everytime a popular title hits the shelves.
I cant imagine how hard its going to be to find Rock Band 2 when they finally release it for the Wii.

Maybe there is a new guitar coming out with Rock Band 2 for Wii in Dec 2008. Use the old guitar for bass, and hopefully the new guitar is better. The old guitar can't play the fast note streams like it should.

I was told that any guitar that works for the Wii works for Rockband. I have no idea how accuate this info is since I don't personally own rock band.

Rock Band 2 will certainly feature new guitars & drums when it comes out in December (they will be compatible with the original Rock Band - the reviews for the other consoles indicate they are better than the originals). Have you tried HMV? I was surprised by how many video game accessories they had. I didn't look too closely so it might have all been Guitar Hero stuff.
