Wings Trade For Zherdev

Last night Detroit and the Flyer's hooked up on a deal.

To Philly - Michael Ryder, Colten Teubert, 3rd

To Detroit - Nikolai Zherdev, 5th

Ryder and Zherdev are fairly similar players in the Sim. Both rated the same and its pretty much a wash for this season. Ryder is getting some good ice time in Boston this year and has looked good.

Zherdev being only 23 can hopefully continue his hot start to the season. His league leading +11 has been a big surprise.

Colten Teubert was the 13th overall pick in the past draft. A 6'4" 18 year old d-man who has been compared to Chris Pronger. This could come back to bite me in the arse. Just hope later rather than sooner.

I'm not sure the difference between Ryder and Zherdev is as much as Tuebert, let alone the pick exchange, but the way Ryder is viewed by most around here it may be. I think Ryder's a pretty good hockey player though and fully capable of 30 goals/season again given proper ice-time and opportunity.

In short, a bit much imo, but nothing too serious. Zherdev should still be the best asset in the deal long term.

If Zherdev can keep up the pace he's scoring at, then this deal is fairly even. I like Zherdev more than Ryder, he's kind of fallen off the map and I wasn't overly impressed by him at the Bruins game.

Good job getting this deal done on both sides, Teubert is a good prospect and Ryder is still serviceable.
